I have a 04 Liberty with 215's on it. I want to replace them with the largest tire possible without lifting my Jeep. D the 245's rub any?

Theya re supposed to clear i guess. I think it depends on how agressive the profile is on the tires you choose too I believe.

It's all in the backspacing of the rim and the actual profile of the tire. 245/70's may not rub while a 245/75 will.

I'm not sure about the 245's--i dumped my 215's for some 235/70 they won't rub (no pinchweld smashin required) here's a pic

245's wont rub with your stock kj. Thats what ive got under mine. I also added the weight of an ARB to the ride and the tires are still not rubbing.....Hope that answered your Q

Here's my problem I'll be getting new tread SOON :D the BFG AT'S 245/70/16 won't fit without a little modification in the wheel wells up front,pich weld & fog light door so I've orderd pre 02 springs to install so I can fit them,I KNOW GET A LIFT but I'm not going to throw away money on my extended warrenty pretty pricey :shock: so it'll wait,but I'm still legal with the springs :)

I've been researching tires for over a month now. I have been to several tire shops and have been assured by each and every one that 245/70-16s will fit my 2004 Liberty Sport without any rubbing problems. It's less than an inch difference from the 235/70-16s and will fit on the stock 16x7 rims with no problem. I'm actually upgrading from the stock 215/75-16s in the next week or two. This forum has been lots of help in making my tire decisions and I am most grateful to everyone for their help and opinions.

I can't wait to get my new tires! :D I'm so excited. Guess you don't hear that much from the ladies. Us automotive gals are a rare breed.

I plan to do more to my Libby next year. After I sell my '02 Corvette I'll have some extra money to put into the KJ. If anyone is interested in a really nice daily driver/custom show Vette it will be on eBay this weekend. You can PM or email me at cpvett@comcast.net for more details.

Are you sure you are talking about 245/70 and not 245/75? 245/70 will fit with NO modifications (I know, that's what I run). However, I'm not sure if the BFG's come in a 245/70, as it's a P size, not an LT size. If the BFG's only come in LT sizes, then 225/75 might be another option for you. They are the same height as 245/70 (29.6"), but 1" narrower. Here's a pic of mine with LT225/75/16 Destination M/T's.

YEP Tim 245/70/16 that's correct I went to sears the kid I talked to is ALL JEEP he's got a cherokee all done up matter of fact he sold Orlando his tires,anyways he showed me where it would rub because of the tread design of BFG,I thought 225's would be smaller :?: he showed me on the comp.exactualy how much taller they were it's around 1 inch maybe alittle more,I was going to do the springs anyways to give me alittle more ground clearance especialy up front,he also told me they'd beat any price even on line 110%

I got my 245/70R16 BFG T/A KO's a couple months ago. They fit great on my stock 2005. I will say, there was about one millimeter of rub on the front wheels at full lock. This is the aggressive tread pattern issue. When I say one millimeter, I am being exact, because I checked them a week after getting the tires on and the rubbing was no more. It seems that the tire wore down the slightest bit and now it's OK. Now I have absolutely no rubbing...pinch weld, well, fog lights, etc....

I know you're running a 2004, so I don't know of any difference by year. If you're up in Boston sometime, PM me and I'll show you 'em. Better yet, let's go on a snow run. This is my Libby's first snow!

OK Pete. I just did some research, and this is what I found out.

BFG's
LT245/70/16, 2 listings. Sizes are as follows...
113Q is 29.6" x 9.7"
113S is 29.5" x 9.8"

The Revo's that I run are P245/70/16
29.6" x 9.8"

The Destination's I had (very aggressive) were LT225/75/16
29.5" x 8.8"

BFG's
LT225/75/16, 2 listings.
110Q 29.4" x 8.8"
110S 29.3" x 8.9"

I also noticed that the sizes for the Destination's were the same as the Revo's, for the same sizes. So, I'm not sure if an aggressive tread makes a difference, or if Firestone/Bridgstone is too lazy to measure each model of tire.

I'm only telling you all of this because I don't think you NEED to modify anything for the tires to fit. Now, if you WANT to change your springs for a little bit of height, that's up to you :wink: , but I don't THINK you will NEED to.

THANKS Tim,GEATLY appreciated :D I was going to do the springs anyways for a legal lift without warrenty issues it's not much but it is some 1 inch up front & 3/4 in the rear, your measure ments are correct, from what I understood because of it's design it would come out a 1/2 inch or so maybe alittle more & I'd have rubbing,curious if the mud terrain would rub :?

I have seen your other tire pics also & those looked aggresive also, & they looked awesome, my tires now are 235's & they come close :shock: can barely fit my hand inbetween both spots,it's strange :? I'm going to have to wait a bit for the tires,hopefully by march :D
