Well with gas at the $4 mark i figured I would try and save some weight and make it a small bit more arrow dynamic. I am going to test it through the next tank of gas and see if it makes any difference. Thoughts? Before:
After:
Now I can fit some tow hooks on there... I know people will think it probably looked better before..i am just hoping it will get a small bit better gas milage and I can throw the roof rack back on in 10 minutes. joe |

Honestly.. I think it looks better now, also I know my thule roof rails don't help the mileage at all... But with the two tone bumpers/fenders I think w/o it it brings it out more. |

there will be MUCH LESS drag now that the basket is gone, which is one of the reasons I took off & sold my Surco basket, I noticed a BIG differance right off the bat, all my driving is mostly HWY |

It looks 100 times better now than it did with the brush guard and roof rack IMO. |

I liked the other look better but don't blame you a bit. I took off my skids and roof rack also. Terry |

I ran mine without the roof rack and rails on my normal 575 mile weekend and then the next weekend with them on and tent etc even up there and there was only about a gallon difference, like the looks of the rack and will keep it on. |

It has to make some sort of a difference...I will try and find out this gas tank. If it does great, if not oh well.. I kind of like the way it looks without the front guard and I can add some tow hooks now. joe |

i like how it looks both ways, hmm thats a tough one, either way it looks good!. you should put the KC's on the jeep on the bumper, i think that would look awesome. i mthinkin of getting the PIAA yellow fogs for my bumper in front of the grill, or the KC's |

I do have mine (roof rack) sitting down low, with a bigger metal fairing in front which helps a lot , also have it mounted about as far back as it can go. So I think that all helps some as well with mine. But I also use mine almost every weekend so no us eto take it off. Tom |

Hey I am new here but I had a rack on my KJ since I got it and since I live in Buffalo Ny and we have gas over $4 a gallon I figured I would take it off. I have definitely noticed a saving in mpgs. |

I am extremely tempted to take off my roof rack when I know I won't be using it. I love my roof rack but it likes to grab a hold of any wind that is blowing. My mpgs have been painful lately. |

the side rails are the stocks for the liberty freedom edition. I drove a lot today for work and I noticed a big difference in just drag. especially at highway speeds. a smal wind gust would be like hitting a wall before now I dont even notice it. feels more car like. joe |

I think it looks better without the basket up there. Now that thats settled, you could always give the basket to me.. |
