So I took a little trip up to Big Bear Lake with some friends on May 31st. I happened across this Awesome Jeep shop and thought I'd get some work done on my rig...
Once the Jeep got into the shop, the dismantling began...
Once that was done, the new stuff was installed. Some of the new stuff required some extra clearance and needed cutting... Did I mention I got the latest version of Jeepin' By Al's A-Arms??? See next post for more detailed pix of the arms.
So while at All Js I had the Frankenlift Premium II kit installed, a transmission service done, and the MOPAR skids (- the gas tank) installed. I had a great time while I was there chit chatting with Quinn, Mike, and Mark (I hope the other guys name was Mark, I can't honestly remember unfortunately). OF COURSE talking with Heather was/is always a pleasure. It was also good to meet a bunch of other LOST members at a BBQ in Sugarloaf later that same day. THANKS AGAIN ALL Js!!!!!! |

Now for more detailed pics of the A-arms... Stock vs. Al's
Cutting down for some added clearance so no banging is heard...
What the ball joint looks like with the new boot design...
Top view...
At full droop...
The above photo is fuzzy, but notice the boot does not contact the coil or anything else. There is a small portion of the arm that makes contact with the coil just behind the silver nut closest to the coil, that nut is what helps secure the Moog ball joint in place. Another angle...

Extra Pics of the install and area... My buddy Rob holding the new OME N132L rear shocks...
Working on the alignment after the install and test drive...
As it sat after 2 test runs and some minor banging around, the front settled down considerably since the first time it was off the lift.

The best pics will come in less then 2 weeks, after I return from Moab and the White Rim trail next week. |

Now for the rest of the notes regarding the lift so far. It handles GREAT!!! Feels GREAT!!! and needs an alignment badly. But I'll wait for that after Moab and the new tires get installed in 2 weeks. I'm getting 2 weird vibrations coming from the right side of the Jeep, front and rear. I haven't been able to pinpoint them exactly. They occur while taking left turns slowly or even driving straight at 60+ mph. Its very odd. I'm tempted to think that it might be loose wheel well covers vibrating against the metal of the Jeeps body, but I'm not sure. I'll see if I can get a sound bite/video clip together before this weekend. |
