BTW - what's the best way to get that stupid MS inspection sticker off? I've had mine there for 3 years...and now that I don't live there...ya know. the last time I took one off it left some NASTY residue.

Here's my 2005 Liberty CRD that I bought just 2weeks ago. I have allready added a Painless StrikerII module and cut off the muffler and replaced with a piece of strait pipe.

#1, to get rid of the restrictive, 50lb. brick of a stock muffler. #2 for a deeper more performance like sound. To me its pure music, not too loud and no annoying drone at highway speeds. But growls nice when hammered to the floor, and a perfect rumble at idle!!!

I ran 6 tanks of fuel with my module on and 6 tanks without it (mine is a Predator plug and play). I gained 1 mpg with the module. Its supposed to be a 40 hp boost (I'm skeptical).

I tried the test again with 4 tanks of fuel each way with the same result. There is a noticeable increase in power, and the turbo lag seems shorter in duration.

With the cost in the hundreds of dollars and the increase in mileage minimal, it would take a long time to justify putting one in based solely on improved mpg. The original owner gave me this one for $100. I would be disappointed with the results if I had paid full price for it. Again, I can only speak for the setup that I am running. Results may be better with other units.

Hey, any guys with the gassers run straight pipes after the cats??.. or is it too darn loud. I remember the exhaust on a old VW I used to drive fell off and it sounded like I was driving a darn formula 1 race car. But if it sounded decent I wouldn't rule it out, I like a nice growl sound coming out of a truck.

After some tweaking and a synthetic oil change my gasser gets about 24 mpg on the highway, around town down here in wilmington I'm getting from 17-19. My wife on the other hand after she drives it the KJ typically reads 12mpg! darn lead footed police officers!

Best way I know how it to use WD40 on the tacky residue left over. I believe I could have done a better job myself on the exhaust pipe. But can't complain for $30. and has to flow alot more and sounds 1000% better than the old stock muffler. To me, the sound is pure music. A nice throaty sound at idle; and, under heavy to WOT, she's got a growl thats just loud enough without being obnoxious. Normal driving up to highway speeds there is little to no difference in the cab with windows up.

If a bug gets thrown up and hits that exhaust pipe it will fall off. Doesnt look like its welded on or anything, just a bunch of putty. Nice Diesel. Hmm, just noticed.. That gas pedal looks like the pedal they use on the WK's.. My pedal looks like the one our 94 ZJ has.. Which I like..

I had a shop do mine for about 100 bucks and it looks considerably straighter. On the upside, a few wiggles will prevent harmonic vibrations down the length of the tube For the stickers, try a razor knife (razor blade held sideways in a handle) for the sticker and some goof-off or goo-gone (or murphy's oil soap) for the adhesive. All (except probably the murphys) is available at home centers. Dan

I didn't have it stock long enough to make a comparison. I just filled up today, and hand calculated 24.1mpg came from about 70/30 highway/city driving with many full throttle tests to see how the module performs. So at least I can say it didn't hurt my mileage. I'll be taking a nice, long trip down to Florida this week and will report back what she does. LOL!!! By the way, that is welded pipe under there. Midas seems to like putting some kind of anti rust paste on the welds when they finish the job. As far as the bends in the pipe.........yeh, I was a little dissapointed, and I believe this could have been done with only 2 minor bends instead of the 4 it has, but what do yopu expect for $30. Oh well!, I wanted this mod more to see what it will sound like. I know of another shop who can do better work, but was in a bit of a hurry the other day and Midas was close and cheap. Besides, anything short of welding a plug in the exhaust stream has got to flow better than what came stock!!!!!!

Results may be better with other units. thank you for your info.....i am averagin 390 miles to a tank of fuel. on long runs when i am travelin back and forth to texas to visit my husband i can get around 415 and thats only if i baby it! I would think i would get better than this.

Sound wise...............think SRT4 Neon, thats the closest thing I can think of in terms of similar exhaust sound.

I average 430 around town and I have gotten more than 560 on quite a few occasions (long trips). 390 puts you right around 20 mpg. That sounds about average. I have found the "sweet spot" is right around 1800 rpm. With my current setup I have to accelerate to get it to shift into the last gear and then back down to 65. Last trip I took to Utah was the best mileage I have posted to date 31.8mpg over an 850 mile trip. Average speed was 73. I have noticed that my mileage improved after I passed 40k miles. Some guy told me that the CRD engine isn't broken in until it hits 50k but I don't know how much truth there is to that.

My CRD 3" Str8 pipe/muffler delete Used mandrel bent Flowmaster tubing for over the axle...welded together. Sounds great because the Turbo acts much like a muffler.
