What color is better on my KJ?

I thought I'd just share how deliciously muddy my KJ was before I went and washed it off. I almost don't want to with all the crazy looks and questions I get when it's that muddy.

I can't resist the "occasional" off-road excursion. :lol:

It took me two trips to the Car Wash and about an hour to get all the mud off (underneath included). Unfortunately it looked like somebody took some sandpaper to my paint job. :evil:

I went out and bought a buffer and gave it a shot. I got half way done and gave up a few minutes ago (I needed a rest and some food) and while it doesn't look half bad, it doesn't look that great and I'm starting to see some actual nicks in the paint so I think I'm going to call it quits on doing it myself and find an actual detailer to make my baby shine like new. I think I'll take it wheeling a few more times before I do that and subsequently leave for Iraq. I'd hate to not be able to get her muddy again before I go!

thats why i havent washed the mud off of mine yet i dont want to see whats under it :shock:

Well, there were definitely some nicks and scratches to the paint... I finished the waxing and it helped a little, but right before I head overseas I'm going to take it to get professionally done and hopefully it'll take all of the scratches out. I'd do it tomorrow, but I know I'll just get it dirty again. :lol:

When I get back I might actually have her repainted. I'm thinking... Olive Drab. :twisted:

I wonder if I can't get my hands on that nice military paint that doesn't scratch as easily - like the stuff on our HMMWVs.

if you really want scratch proof paint... i have your fix.

Our rubi was rolled over when we bought it... so we had to paint almost the entire thing (only thing not painted is the grille). We have a body shop and our paint rep gave us some experiemental PPG scratch proof paint (it's going to be in production for cement mixers/industrial machinery). we've wheel it a ton though tree's branches mud.. everything you can thing and it still looks perfect.. no washing swirls or fine branch scratches... nothing. havnt waxed it in over a year. dont know if they have it in olive drab but it would be perfect if they did!

first black you can see everything as far as scratches...next i think i use my kj more then most ppl on this board and i deff need a good wax job...i just rather spend money on other mods on my kj

oh i'm coming up w/ fender flairs that will look like whats on your ruby

I finished the buffing tonight and it turned out decently. There's still some obvious scratches because, as pointed out by ohv_kj, it's black. About how much would a new paint job cost; anybody know?

Keep it brown. Stop washing it off and you won't see all those scratches. :wink:
