KJCoastie, you have to let us know when you are going out again so we can join you.
I got about a foot and a half here on Friday. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling all too well to enjoy it that much (or get pics). I had to wade through knee deep snow in an unplowed parking lot to get to my Jeep after work. Everyone kept telling me that I wasn't going anywhere. After I cleaned it off, I just put it in gear, and 4-hi, and drove right out. The crowd in the lobby was just staring in disbelief. I just smiled and waved and went on my merry way. Got home in time for my wife to take the KJ to work (she works nights). Explained the transfer case to her, and sent her on her way. By the time she got to work, she was converted

Tim, did you just say, "She's converted"? Say it's not so. After all this time, she is getting the itch? Way to go. Just don't take her straight to White Face.

I was in Worcester and on my way home in the Girlfriends Trailblazer and wishing I had the Libby. The roads were pretty bad and the Trailblazer wasn't doing as well as I was hoping but, the tires really stink. So, I made it home and got the libby and continued my trip north to Townsend, MA and back home with not a problem at all. I was out in the worst of it too, at that point. Fulltime with good AT's = no trouble getting around, even going up some pretty good hills.

I was kinda shocked myself, Wayne. I still don't think she's up for off-roading, but...
The last time she tried to take it out in the snow was when we first got it (only a couple of weeks old). She was having trouble with the transfer case (kept putting it into 4-lo, or at least trying to). When she took it Friday, first thing she had to do was pull out of the snobank I parked it in. I told her to just put it in drive, and slowly pull away. You should've seen the smile on her face  Then she tells me she had to cut through an unplowed parking lot (couldn't do that in my Buick she says). By the end of the night she was offering to pull out anyone that was stuck at her work. One of these days Wayne, one of these days...

HAHA  I love that....its just funny that I find the general attitude of most "outsiders" towards the KJ is "Thats not a REAL Jeep, what can it possibly handle" and then the moment of truth....their jaws hit the floor so hard anyone within a mile goes deaf from the resulting bang! Nice conversion on the wife bro!!

Nice snow pics to....planning on getting some up on here myself....we have a good foot here as well!

We got probably a foot of snow in Lexington on Friday (I wish I had taken photos, it's already very melted). I got out of work at around 5pm or so and to the parking lot on Hanscom AFB where I left my jeep. Took maybe 5 minutes or so to trudge through the snow, clear of my windows, brush off the snow and just back out of the spot, no issues at all.

I got down to the other parking lot, though, and saw a TON of people trying to rescue their sedans. (They hadn't plowed the lots very well, so the people who pulled into their spots found 4-6feet of snow 1ft deep behind them....and had a lot of shoveling to do with a tiny snowbrush). I decided to stick around and help (since I had a shovel with me). Nobody was stuck enough to need yanking, the hardest to get out were: Saturn FWD SUV, Jeep Cherokee 2WD, and some RWD sedan (I forget the maker, but it looked relatively new...I couldn't believe they still made RWD sedans). Easiest car was a nissan sentra, we shoveled the snow out of the way and he just drove out of the spot.

I didn't realize how much difference there was between the jeep and normal cars until I was with a few other people on the bumper of a car trying to push it up a hill with his tires spinning like mad slowly inching up, when I just driven right up the same hill not 5 minutes earlier without skipping a beat. I did it again before leaving, too.

So in summary, I love owning a Jeep! (and yeah, let us know, I'd love to go for a snow run if I have time)

Hey Tim, those Revos make it like a snomobile eh? Last year in the huge blizzard we had I drove most of the way home on the shoulder thru a foot of snow while everyone else floored it and spun their tires on the FLAT roads down here (there's no hills on LI...)

Jeff, I bet that Sentra had some decent tires... My dad's Jetta can go thru a lot with good tires! And yes, they still make a LOT of RWD sedans, all BMWs, Mercedes, etc. Tires and ground clearance are the main factors for a good parking lot exit. That and not flooring it. People don't get it that once you break those tires loose, it's over. A good slow steady start in 2nd and you're outa there, no sweat. My sister and I used to help all those poor flatlanders get unstuck in the WPI parking lots

Yeah, FWD and good tires are all it really takes to survive the winter up here. 4WD is nice now that I have it, though :-)

WPI parking lots suck - I got stuck for an hour or so trying to get into the lot behind Fuller Apartments. Huge pile of ice right at the entrance, it was a nice uphill turn to get in. I eventually got in with the right combination of people pushing and throwing sand under the tires. That was in my old Chevy Crapalier a couple years back, though.
