I need to see Jerry cans mounted to a roof rack... any roof rack before I purchase my water and gas cans! |

You get nothing and you will like it! If you do a search you will find a few options. I have one bookmarked at home that I will shoot over to you. I keep an eye on this type from time to time. |

You can somewhat see how I have mine mounted in these pics: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3030594/10 Its a steel can and holder I got from Northern. The rack is off the Jeep right now. I'll try to get some close up pics for you this weekend, and post them here. |

did you use the carrier for the gas can? or just strap it up there? |

I mounted the carrier to the rack, then strap the can to the mount. With todays gas prices, I also lock the can to the rack with a cable and padlock. |

pics as promised. You can see how I mounted it better than I can describe it. I mounted this while the rack was on the Jeep. Now that the rack is off, I may try to move it more to one side. I used the mount to err on the side of caution. I don't want to worry about 5 gallons of gas flying off the front of the Jeep in the unlikely event of a crash.

I purchased mine at the local Northern Tools. You can order them from their website. |

I ran mine on their side, the NATO style cans, for quite a while. I was never pulled over or harassed about them and they never leaked a drop. I secured them in their mounts with one of those heavy duty rubber bungee cords. |
