So the other night, I had to park in a parking garage. Well, i cleared the clearance sign, but the gate, not so much. I am going to call them about this tomorrow. (on a side note, the girl that came out said I can goto court if I damaged the gate...well, can't i file a claim that the sign misinterprets the level of what I can fit under. keep in mind that my lights did NOT touch the clearance bar.)

I don't know the laws, but the first pic you have kind of gives you favor, it shows the gate was not rolled up far enough..... I would say their bad. Granted I highly doubt they will pay for your lights, but you may get out of any damage to the gate.
I did the similar thing with my parent van at an airport. I made it through their height bar, but then I scraped the other gate, luckily it had a hinged upper bar that moved so no damage.

Great call on taking those photos.. I would make sure they took care of my lights for me as the gate should be rolled up all the way.. Nice decals though :)

I like the low-profile ones like what Boiler has. When I finally do get some, I'll end up going with something like that.

thats what i was thinking if i do get lights again. the wiring is all there. or maybe some daylighters. wouldnt mind having big lights if thats what they are :D

Thanks...I just miss my lights...i actually went to the garage today and talked to them.

I told them, my lights were $60 a pair - $120
(scratched the heck out of it) my roof basket was $100 - $220
and it took me a total of 6 hours to install the basket, lights, wire and take off the basket and lights the other day - $100 per hour of work - $600

$820 Total

I measured their bar, it was 6'9'' so that was wrong and the gate was at 6'7", this is an under the table payment, no police involvement of court or anything for that matter. I did not have this stuff installed, but he asked how long it took for a shop install and I said took me 6 hours, and he said "usually the going rate for shops in the city are $120 an hour, so I'll give you $100 per hour invested in this set up"

looks like I won this one, the only reason why i really won is because the employee said to me "you can goto court if you ruined our gate for hitting it."

Thanks for letting us all know about this and that you won the "settlement." I'm moving to the St Louis area this winter and am worried about being able to park my KJ in the garages around there.

Guess I'll need to ensure I know how tall my KJ is after the lift gets installed this weekend.
