ok.. let me explain about the pictures.. my wife and I have been studying up on falconry.. in our part of the state of NC there are only a handful of people that are involved in falconry.. so we want to get involved to help save endangered falcons . we went to visit 2 guys that are head of falconry in our area.. ok with that said.. one of his raptors decided to land on my KJ and i quickly took a pic.. granted i only had my miniDV in my hand at the time so i quickly changed it to picture mode so here is a few i got..

Image

it flew from the kj to the house

I got to spend about 4 months studying falcons with the Air Force Academy. What an awesome sport/hobby (although a full time job at the same time eh?). Those claws are fine with gloves on... but I've got scars from when another trainee lost his grip on the jesses and I ended up with a Peregrine on my fist sans glove.

Those talons must hurt w/o gloves. I know my Sulfur-Crested Cockatoo and African Grey put holes in my hands, if i dont keep their nails trimmed.

Funny thing about the Air Force Academy. Two years ago, I took my parents to a game there. They have the Falcons fly around the stadium and supposed to land on the guys arm in the middle of the field. Well, the Falcon did not fly back. Everyone watched the Falcon fly away. The funny part was when the trainer realized it and started running for the exit.

Calvin.. thats cool.. this particular raptor is a harris hawk.. he is well trained.. the guy has both this one and its sister.. the male (pictured) was like a puppy dog.. very gentle.. he even carried him around w/o the glove.. he showed us small pin pricks and lil blood from where he was holding him.. he said you get used to it.. i rem our iguana used to do the same thing.. whenever we get more into it and start our apprenticeship.. i will post pics of our fire falcon capture..

Very cool! Those are amazing birds!

As a side note: I'm glad to see more than one winged creature likes Liberty...
