WOW! ![]() That looks awesome. Reminds me of something, like a stripped down off-road racer or something. I love the mean-ness of the black rims and agressive tyres juxtaposed against the bling-ness of the chrome grille and roof rails. The skids are a work of art! Are the custom made, or available to the public? For some reason though, I have a pathological hatred of the grey plastic wheel cover thing that you Europeans (and we Aussies) get. I think it would look better without that; less cluttered, more stripped out and ready for "business". But apart from that, great job! Now lets see some proper wheelin' pictures! |

That is beautiful! Just enough oil filter clearance. How hard is it to change out the filter now? |

I saw your post in the CRD section right after I posted that question about the filter. Oops. Keep us posted on what you learn about relocating the filter. That would be a GREAT off-road upgrade for the CRDs! Chemguy... indian-family wrote: The skids is available to the public, its asfir

I'll bet urban folks would like that spare tire cover. Make it harder to steal the spare. Not prevent, just make it harder. |

I checked out their website too. Yes, they have an office in AZ, but I'm not sure if it's a warehouse. No prices or ordering information was listed online, so I'm guessing you'd have to contact the AZ office and ask how it's done. Another interesting piece of info from the ASFIR website: the Liberty skids are 6mm thick aluminum. Not sure how well that would hold up on the rocks, 6mm thick or not. They sure look very cool and beefy though. Rick |

Sweet looking KJ..can't beleive you got that MT under the wheel cover...nice World Rally cars use Aluminium skid plates, but are about 15mm thick and are classed as a consumable item. What you have to be very careful of, and has caught out a few teams is.... If you get stones sandwiched between the sump (filter etc...) and the aluminium deflects, it can punch a hole through it. WRC cars combat this by fitting High Density foam between the guard and sump, this prevents stones getting in there in the first place. They used to use titanium for the guards (some maybe still do) but it proved better to have the 'malleability' of the Aluminium, they just need to be careful that the amount of aluminium scrubbed off does not put them underweight (they run that close!!!) So in short, if you do a lot of rock crawling, you will need to replace aluminium items regularly...but they look awesome. |

We need someone to repro that front skid in steel, that thing looks killer. The uppr half could stay aluminum though as I doubt it would get hit very often if ever. Great looking Jeep BTW. |
