Started painting my ARB front bumper this weekend. It was "millennium black" which was darker than my original sport flares, but not even close to a black.
My rear bumper and roof rack is Rustoleum Hammered Black so I decided to paint the front bumper to match.
Here it is scuffed up.
I used newspaper for overspray.
Here is after the first coat. The Hammered is a little easier to use out of a rattle can than glass paints, but I it still looks splotchy.
Here it is after the last coat. I used two and a half cans, three medium coats and three light finishing coats. I let it dry about 15 minutes between coats, it looked better if I waited closer to 30.
I am going to let it set for a few days, the paint takes a while to firm up, especially after lots of coats. On my other parts the Hammered has finished very nicely with a shiny coat of the mottled/hammered texture. I plan on using Turtle Wax Ice to protect it (my rear bumper needs to be refinished due to NOT following the steps I am taking now).
I have also had success on my rockers with Rustoleum Hammered, I painted under the plastic rocker trim. So far I like this paint and it looks good next to the Dark Khaki I have
Next up is to use Hammered Universal on the fender flares, I am hoping the texture from the Hammered paint looks okay with the texture in the plastic.
