I am about to get some 245-70-17's on the same wheels as those, what do they actually measure in at horizontally ? (much more than about 30.5", and I may get some rubbing on steering lock with my small lift

)

Do you mean the tread width? I can measure it. I just have OME coils and Bilstein shocks on it, and I think I might have slight rubbing in the front part of the fender well. Not very noticeable, only reason I think there could be some is a shiny spot there. The size tire really works well.

Tread width, including the bit of side wall bulge, is 9 3/8".

... though if you are getting slight rubbing with OME springs, I better stick to the OE size of 235-65's !!

.. I cant afford to risk buying £650 worth of tyres and them not fit! :cry:

Anyway, I'd definately wait till you're lifted to do 245/70/17. Stock a 245/65/17 would fit. Might have to do a little clevis lift (super easy to do) and minor trimming, but that's no promise that you'll have too. What tires are you considering?

Not really made my mind up yet, but been looking at Cooper stt, Grabber AT2's, and a couple others.

How "easy" is a clevis lift ? .. I could do with a few more mm's up front just to level up my new springs (growning under the weight of the mighty 2.8CRD :mrgreen:

) ... if I undo the top clevis bolt, support the truck on stands, and lower the hub away from it on a jack, will it slide off the strut enough to get a spacer on then slide it back on and bolt up ??

(I'm guessin its not that easy

)

yes that is the sum of it, not very hard if you have the right tools to do it, but i think you still should be okay to fit equivalent of 245/75R16 with your current lift. Yes you will still have a bit of rubbing at full lock no matter what with standard rims, what you need is more back space ( I have the same problem).You can get good spacers for £200.00 ~ for 4 or a different sent of Steel rims with more back spacing for £40 a rim ( see Silverline tyres http://www.silverlinewheels-tyres.com/ ).

Actually don't need a spacer, just pry apart a bit. Only reason I haven't done it is I don't need an alignment...
