I finally got my KJ back from the accident repairs and spent some time doing some new things. It started out as a joke to name it as the "Spinal Tap Edition". The scene from the movie below has always been one of my favorites.
"Theres something about this that is so black its like how much more black can this be. and the answer is none...none more black." - Nigal Tufnel

Now the idea has kind of ended up sticking. :ROTFL:

Thanks :)
I wish I had pictures of my Jeep just two years ago. I let it turn into a beater! I didnt care about it and didnt take care of it at all. Sand and salt water all over everything. paint was looking really bad and the suspension coils were so worn they were stacked! Its come so far from then and then a couple months ago it was really banged up in a high speed rear ending accident. Finally coming together again.
I've been debating wether or not I wanted to add a little color to the brakes and differential covers. Was thinking maybe mopar orange or a blue color. My brakes need some serious servicing and figured while I have everything torn apart I might as well make them pretty.

Also been scratching my head as to why my Renegade only came with some of the factory skids???

Looks great - Spinal Tap Edition. That's funny right there! :ROTFL: And the Coopers will fill up the wheel wells real nice!

Get yourself some Rustoleum Black in Hammer Finish and spray the undercarriage and suspension. That brown color on the rear axle screws up the vibe... 8)

Thanks Bob,
Your rear axle looks so clean! Ok, this weekend that gets done! I guess I can spray all the gunk off mine with 409 cleaner or something, then sand a little and then rustoleum like mad. I cant believe that after two years of Southern California weather my OME springs look like crap!! I cant imagine if I was back in pittsburgh...they probably would be complete rot by know. The thing that kills me is on my Eclipse I had full Eibach suspension. Took it off after 4 years when I traded in and the springs looked the same as the day I installed them!
Also, installing my new Napa Adaptive One brake pads this weekend and my Renegade hood decals. Pics to follow.

Thanks Tom,
You gave me helpful tips on numerous occasions. This group has been super helpful in making my Jeep how I wanted it as well as doing maintenance stuff that I never had done before. You,Chris, and 2006KJ were like the original Libertys that I saw and was like Wow, these trucks are way cooler than I gave them credit for. Then I started working on mine. The strange thing about it is with most vehicles the longer I have them the less I like them no matter what mods I do. With my Jeep I like the thing more and more the longer I have it!

Went on my first wheeling adventure today in Big Bear. Great day to get away from everything. Wanted to do some more difficult stuff but was alone and afraid if i got stuck id be screwed. Had a few stream crossings which ive never done before. One was deep and fun so i did it a few times. The last time I came in way too hot and ended up ripping off my fender. Fixed them on the trail quickly and finished out the day.

You just sold me on getting my fender flares & maybe bumpers line-x'd!

Great looking KJ, definite inspiration for my black one :JEEPIN:

Quick question, where did you get the black rivets to replace the chrome rivets on the fender flares?

Thanks :SOMBRERO:

Oh man...I never thought the black button top screws would become this impossible item to find. what a pta! When I was removing the plastic ones a couple cracked. I was still on all my pain killers at the time and dont think the brain was fully working...decided I was going to change to real black ones so I dont need the originals anymore and threw them all away. So, had no choice but to find replacements. I went to every local store imaginable and finally found real chrome ones at Home Depot but no black. also, they were close to $5 for two. Finally found black ones on ebay. I went with the size 5/16" -24 x 3/8"..compaired with stainless ones in the store and this was very close to stock size and fit the holes nicely. Problem is they were some cheap quality so one day later they all started to get surface rust. Had to take them all out and paint each one black individually. :dizzy:

Thanks for the reply! I think I may end up plasti-dipping mine unless I line-x over them.

May I ask how much it was to get everything line-x'd on yours?

My local line-x dealer quoted me $500-$600 for all flares and bumpers.

I really like the line-x'ed bumpers and trim, I might have to do that myself sometime in the future.

I have to say, having just gotten my '06 sport, I've seen way to many things here and on other sites I'd like to do (as money/time allow). But looking at how your bumpers and trim look I'm starting to think that could be a relatively easy first mod. That and I'm starting to wonder how that would look with my inferno red KJ.
