Thanks y'all.
Cameraflage, please PM me when you post up your report, I would like to see how y'all did.

Does your KK have a tranny cooler?

I don't think so. I don't have the factory tow package, which supposedly comes with one. I assume your referring to my overheating on Imogene Pass.
I just overheated climbing the pass because I was in a hurry. It kept shifting between 1st and 2nd gear all the time because of the speed I was going. I erroneously thought that it was better to run it at higher RPMs in 1st than to have it constantly shift back and forth every 5 seconds. I was wrong. I really need a 1.5 gear, lol. Once it cooled down I took it a little slower and had no problems the rest of the day.

Great trip report!

I'm sitting here in Northern Ohio getting a bad case of wanderlust - I want to be there right now in the worst way. And you've proven the KK and a well-equipped KJ can do most of the trails with a bit of planning and the right weather.

Thanks again!

Bob
You need to get there. It's tons of fun. I thought it would quench my off road hunger, it only made me want to do more. Our Liberties can do alot, and its fun to impress the wrangler guys.
I recently got sent a few more photos of Imogene Pass

I'm bummed to see that Jeep Jamboree people would allow/encourage the group to park off-trail like that.

Its not really off trail. It was in a big dry clearing. No one was peeling out or damaging anything. Its a common rest stop for photos, like oh! Point and such. The jeep jamboree folks are major advocates ofvtread lightly.

Last weekend I enjoyed a trip to Trees Ranch Offroad Park, about 2 hours from San Antonio.
This was my first time with the wheeling with San Antonio Jeep Exclusive.
I was only able to stay for a few hours, but I had loads of fun. I have come to realize that I need a bigger lift, I was the smallest Jeep out there and on a trail rated for for vehicles with 35"s. I survived but was really slow. The guys in this club were great and very patient. They help spot me over some obstacles I really shouldn't have been doing. Unfortunately there weren't any pictures of me doing any really difficult stuff, but I they did get a good video coming down a really steep hill.

I found some old photos of my first offroading trips in the Jeep. I thought I'd post them here to keep them all together.
These are from Hidden Falls Off Road Park when all I had was 2" Daystar lift

These are from my trip to Padre Island National Seashore. It is the longest undeveloped/unmaintained continuously drivable beach in the United States. 60 miles one way to the end where it hits a man made channel & 60 miles back, all sand.
Image
Image
Image
These next two were taken on Yarborough Pass, a very short section somewhat notorious for getting heavy trucks stuck on youtube.
Image

After about 2.5 hours or so me and my TC made it to the end, at the 60 mile marker.

Awesome pictures!! I was at Padre Island before. I used to live in Huntsville,TX for a few years. I would love to take that trip in my jeep. I felt the same way on my trip. The "other" jeep owners look at us funny. But you are correct, these jeeps are extremely capable.

These were posted in the KK thread, but I'm going to keep them here also.
It had rained that morning so the park was muddy. Hills I normally walked up gave me alot of trouble. There aren't many pictures, but this was all I got.

Sure does bring back memories of when I was in Texas. Trees Ranch was a nice place to go, these were taken right after I got my lift installed back in 09.

What level of trails did you go on out there. My club took me down some moderate trails, which were over my head. I made it of course but I was stressing the whole time.

Well I finally got around to posting my trip report to Ouray 2013. I was waiting to get more pictures from my family, but I don't know when that will be.
The first trail we did was Ophir Pass (from Ouray side to Teluride). I was with my my dad in his 2wd F150.We thought it would be easy on the truck, and we were right. But I'm glad we didn't take it the other way I don't think he would have made it. I hope to have more pictures updated in the future.
Next we took Last Dollar Road.
Image
Image
After we finished Last dollar road we hooked my brothers bicycle up and I drove him up Mineral Creek to the top of Engineer Pass.
Image
Image
Image
We spent another day (Engineer, Animas Forks, Silverton, and Cinnamon Pass) but my family still has all the photos :banghead: .
I left the following day and stopped at Red River, NM to take on the Goose Lake trail. It was a beutiful trip and I even ran into another Liberty (KJ) coming down it. The trip to the lake took around 1 hour and maybe 40 mins back.

I know I need a new camera phone, My lens is a little scratched .
And finally here's an unrelated photo of a water fall on the Rio Grande in Colorado.

Here are some pictures of my recent trip to Cline's Ranch. For those of you familiar with the area (probably like 2 people) Cline's Ranch is located in Lake Hills Texas (near Medina Lake). This Marks the first time I have ever had to be winched up an obstacle. Sorry y'all I can't get the videos to embed.

http://youtu.be/7d7b8Ri_RpM
Image
The below pictures are of Full throttle Hill our first obstacle. This Is the hill that made me proudof my Liberty. There was 2 parts to it. I made it up the first section. I then overheated my transmission and requested to be winched up the second part. What mad me proud is that two JKs (32' and 33's) couldn't make it up the first section. And everybody else who made it up the hill had at least 1 locker. The black JK actually almost rolled over on this hill.
Image
Image
Now I was winched up in these 2 pics.

Image
I like this video, the shock on the guy recording it. "I think he might actually make it!" The video cut off short, but I did make it.

And Finally some Misc. Pics.

That's it for now. My next trip is planned for mid November back to Hidden Falls.

Sweet photos, JeepNCrowd! I think Jeepin' in Ouray is now one of my life goals. The scenery there is just amazing. Someday I will have to get there.

I can see why you would need the cooling fan on "full throttle hill." Let me know if there's anything else about that mod that I can help you with.

As always, the green Renegade looks good!

Nice pictures and beautiful KK. Curious if you had any close calls with needing fuel or if you brought some. Not sure how close gas stations are around that area.

Thanks and thanks for your write up. Yes I'm really hoping the Tranny cooler will help. I just have to stop spending money on Showy offroad mods and Invest in the cooler.

I haven't had any scares with fuel yet. There are gas stations in all the towns. Just fill up in the morning before you hit the trail and you should be fine. You really don't do that many miles on the trail, the average speed is like 5mph and there is a lot of stopping to look at things. That said I always bring extra gas (5gal) every time I do anything away from civilization.

Good to hear. I recently acquired a 5 gallon gas jug and was planning on bringing it if I ever find myself offroad to help myself or if someone else needs it.

I had noticed some rattling after I hit bumps that started after my trip Sunday. Yesterday I went under the jeep to check it out. I actually sheered one of the bolts that hold the vibration dampener on. Half of the bolt is still in the diff. I also hit my riddler Diff cover and scratched its paint, but it held up magnificently. And finally I dented in my factory skids pretty good. I'm hoping 4byguard or Rocklizard will make HD Skids for the KK sometime in the near future.

That is also one of the reasons I try to bring a snatch strap, tow strap, and gas. I like to help people out. I would want someone to do the same for me if I'm ever stuck in the sand 50 miles from the pavement.
