I was wondering if you cut your stock front flares or those were from something else? I may have just overlooked the answer somewhere.

Those are just the stock un cut flares.

Your going to laugh but I found them on ebay. I think they turned out pretty good. They do the job and they are nice and bright.

Scout .. you're my hero dude.

I just barely got my 2005 KJ in November of last year (my first ever), and spent over 6 grand in simple preventative maintenance ... let alone any of the AMAZING THINGS YOU'VE DONE!

I dream about putting in an ARB Bull Bar for my KJ, but I have to start stockpiling my saving again before that. Plus my wife and kids probably need to eat this month .. `8P~

Once again, your Jeep looks awesome, and it really shows that you've dedicated a lot of time and money into that baby.

Very well done man .. very well done.

*swoons over that rig*

Sarma.

PS: Do you have a name for it?

Same here.

Scout, the word "awesome" gets overused a lot, but this time it truly fits.

After a 21 hour plane ride I am finally back home and this is what was waiting for me.

As you can tell I am rebuilding my front suspension with new tie rods, tie rod ends, ball joints (upper and lower), and all new bushings. My rear suspension is getting new shocks, and springs since mine were sagging (bushings and ball joint were replaced before I deployed). Not pictured are the quick discos, and ARB twin compressor with tank. I also added a Lotek gauge pod with autometer gauges. Right now I have a water and transmission temperature gauge in the pod but I will be replacing the water temp with a volt meter for a dual battery set up.

Things to come: D/P hub bearings, passenger head light, and dome light bezel. I am also dropping my rear bumper, rock sliders, and roof rack to get bead blasted and powder coated. My RL rear bumper is getting a make over but that's a secret squirrel project.

Things in the works: Removing the double rear seat and building a full drawer/shelving storage system, upgrading all off road lights to Rigid LEDs, dual battery system, wheels, heated seats, heated mirrors, and of course air lockers. Not in that order :JEEPIN:

How did you like the quality of the Lotek gauge pod? Are those gauges both 2 1/16-52mm ?

KJ/toy- The gauge pod its self is pretty nice and I like the placement of the gauges. The only problem I ran into was the length of the screws provided as well as the placement of the hole near the head liner. As said before by other members the screws provided are not long enough. It was an easy fix though.

Cainneach- Thanks man. I still have some work to do but it has been coming along nicely.

Well, I'm right in the middle of this, can you tell me what size screws you used? Did you have to drill into the a-pillar post?

Thanks

So yesterday I was productive as well as counter productive. Here's how it all went down.... productive.... I installed some extended bump stops in the rear to stop the rubbing when my tires are fully stuffed, found out that my shift linkage to my transfer case is not attached (which should be an easy fix), and found that my winch works like a charm. Here is how I found out....

Image

Counter productive.... Yep... that's me stuck in a water hole. Now I have been through this many times with no need for 4 wheel drive. For some reason, I'm guessing with all the rain/flooding we've had, I felt the rear end start to dig in. I stopped, shifted it into 4 wheel drive but when I pulled up on the lever it was like a limp noodle. Hummm.... that's strange. I tried to back out and quickly realized it wasn't going to happen. I decided to push forward and ended up like you see in the picture. I quickly hoped out and winched myself out.... not quick enough though....

Image

Image

When I got home I imeditaly started getting the water out with a wet vac, well as much as I could. I decided to pull my skids and take a look at why my 4 wheel drive wasn't working. This is what I found.

Image

Has happend to anyone else? I can't think of the last time I shifted it into 4 wheel drive but I know i didn't feel anything hinting that it had snapped.

Now I have the daunting task of pulling my carpet out to let it dry/air out before my rig smells like a swamp donkey. Any suggestions on how to dry out my rig?
