It's been a while since I've been around here, but here is an update to the Renegade. Bought some Plastidip and sprayed it because we were going to Morris Mountain in Alabama and didn't want anymore scratches down the sides. Plastidip held up great, didn't peel or anything with all the tree branches we drove through. I used the Camo Tan plastidip. 2-gallons worth. Shook the first gallon so I could get the little air bubbles for a textured feel (like military vehicles)

Interesting. Looks really good with the Renegade bumpers. Making me really want Moab rims now.

The Moab's look really good. I always get people asking about them and where I got them, etc... I ended up getting the set of 5-Moabs (have the spare on the Jeep too) for better than free. Bought the set of 5, with tires, for $500. Sold the tires for $550, haha.

I've been looking for them. Did you take the plastidip off the Jeep or just gonna leave it for now? You definitely captured the whole military style Liberty look I've been shooting for.

That looks real good. All you need is some oscar mike badges and the military star decal set.

The black has been on the Fenders/Bumpers for 7-months now....holding up great! The tan has been on there for a month now, and it's holding up great too! It has it's imperfections, but it doesn't bother me one bit.

He's a Cop on base, and I was crackin' jokes about it one day with some friends, and he heard me (of course I saw him standing there), and it was the funniest thing ever. The next day, the FJ is covered in mud. He's a short guy too, and when he washed it, he didn't wash the roof, so it keeps running off the top, haha.

looks great but good luck on the plasti dip. did mine a month or so ago and already pulled it off after a trail practically did it for me. I loved the look of it and how it felt textured but it just didn't hold up, did mine with cans though. let us know how long you make it before you peal it off.

It's been on there a month now. We went through the trails at Morris Mountain and nothing happened to it (pretty thick woods). I sprayed the body (tan), with 2-gallons (about 6-7 coats). It's on there thick. The bumpers/fenders I sprayed last November, and they're holding up great. I used the cans of black that you can buy at Lowes. Sprayed 1 light, and 5 thick coats. The front end has a few knicks from trees/rocks (from trails), but none of it has peeled off yet.

It's pretty easy to patch up the little scratches in plastidip.

My question is what unit did you use to spray the 2 gallons of dip? Did you buy the sprayer they sell off Dip Your Car or did you find something that works better? If I can find a sprayer I may end up going for a full Matte black and red eventually. especially if I can keep those texas pin stripes off the paintjob :ROTFL:

And did you do any kind of prep work that would ruin your paint?

I used a regular HVLP siphon fed sprayer. I've had a spray gun for years from when I would repaint old cars/boats/motorcycles.

Nope. Only prep work that I did was wash the Jeep with Dawn dish soap to strip the wax off, let it dry, and did a real quick windex job after I had everything taped off to eliminate the oils from where my hands touched the paint.

How's the Plastidip holding up?

If it's holding up as well as mine is, it's probably still perfect. I've had my jeep Dip'd for 3 years now and the only wear it has is on the hood emblems no need for respray

Mine is also still good on my wheels. Almost two years dipped with occasional touch ups.
