Leeann wrote: That air filter's pretty danged nasty ![]() I know, right! You should have seen the throttle body! I cleaned that as well. Runs like a real champ now. 165K miles. I doubt the throttle body was ever cleaned before. We also gave it a synthetic oil change. |

With the filter that dirty, I believe it. I assume it was pretty gunked up. |

Have they been driving it like that or has it been sitting? |

Pretty sure the guy was dailying it on the highway to and from work. Newish set of tires on it. The work we put in today definitely saved it a few more miles. Anything else you think I should check? I want to find out the specifics of how to check the transmission fluid as it has a dipstick and doubt it would be hard to change. Also, I should check the fluids in the rear, front, and transfer if possible. It will be getting new spark plugs in the near future. |

Everything you said, plus check the brakes and shocks. |

Leeann wrote: Everything you said, plus check the brakes and shocks. Some of the brake line was just replaced since it was leaking. Breaks work really well. Very slight squeal from I believe the front driver side. The shocks are OLD. Definitely original. If it's easy I'd like to replace the antifreeze in the radiator. |

I'd do all of the fluids, diffs, transfer case, transmission, also more to a tune up on them than just spark plugs check the cap and rotor , may as well replace them as well since more than likely they'll need replaced |

I've done way too many tuneups in years (still many many more to come). The spark plugs are probably going to be really bad. I can tell the spark plugs wires have been replaced at least once. I will check the cap and rotor next. I'm sure the rotor will be fried and bent up. We'll see how much progress we can get done on this. Not my money, so it's whatever she can afford or what I can convince her to spend. I bought the air filter for her as a belated birthday present. ![]() Quick question: Anyone think it'd be a good idea to disconnect the battery so it can learn how she drives, or is that not necessary? |

KK's are a lot taller than XJ's. Having owned both, I appreciate having the extra headroom. That XJ needs a lift to park next to yours though! |

You should have seen the XJ I saw parked next to a KK today head on. The XJ was lifted 6 inches or so and huge tires, defender rack, extra lights, steel front bumper, etc. head on with a stock sandstone color KK lol. The XJ needs more work still. Gotta replace a few grommets on the valve cover and fix the parking light that is cracked. |

Next we have to realign her headlights since one points up and the other points down. |
