Post subject:  Some CRD towing action

This is one of the biggest and heaviest things I've pulled so far. My guess is that the trailer weighs about 4000 pounds.
The first time when I hooked it up behind the trailer and was cruising down the road going 55 the Jeep was smoking like crazy. So I pulled over and saw that there was still black smoke coming out of the exhaust. After I shut it of for a minute I continued my drive and everything was fine....weird.
Later that day when I pulled it again it was only smoking when I was idling.

Oh yeah and we went to a big Charity 4 wheeler ride up in Eldrige Alabama.

CRDs smoke black. And we smoke gooooood too. I had a fillup not too long ago and I swear the thing smoked like a chimney through the whole tank.

That 4-wheeler ride looks like a HOOT! I haven't been out trailriding since I sold my motorcycle years ago. I like the mini-buggy. What kind is that? I was looking at some old Odysseys and Pilots, but I like that whole two-seat idea.

Shouldn't you center that mini-buggy over the two trailer axles? Doesn't loading it that far forward give you quite a bit of tongue weight?

Anyway, thanks for sharing the picts!

Yes the 4 wheeler ride was pretty big, we estimated that there were close to 300 4 wheeler. In total we drove approximately 30 miles of trails that day.
Me and my brother were driving the buggy and it surely caught everyones attention since they all had 4 wheelers. First they were like "Haha thats cute, sure you will make it?" and by the time we were about half way through the trail everyone was like "No freakin way you made it through all that stuff!!"

I was pretty surprised myself after we were struggling climbing the first very steep part. :-) After all, the buggy made it pretty much through everything the 4 wheelers made it through. In case someones interested, this is the website we bought it from: http://xxx-motorsports.com/

I dont know about loading the trailer, I just remembered that you are supposed to have more load in the front to prevent swaying. :?:
Anyway the CRD had plenty of power to pull it, trailer brakes would have been nice.
