Hi guys.
My AusJeepOffRoad buddies told me to have a look on lost in regards to replacing the rear engine seal.
I have a 2005 KJ CRD which has the seal replaced now twice in 2 years. The first time was well done without any leaks. Then it started to leak again. Went and had the seal replaced again but it is still leaking.
Our guys on AusJeep mentioned that you have somewhere a thread about the exact sequence and tips on changing this seal. I had a look through your long list of topics but can't find it anywhere.
Could you please point me in the right direction?
Thanks much appreciated :)

You are not running the EHM are you? (elephant hose mod)
Have you checked the CCV puck on top of the engine to make sure it is functioning properly?
They can be serviced and cleaned, see this:> viewtopic.php?p=927939#p927939
Is your CCV connected to the turbo intake boot and is the intake boot in good shape, not cracked or torn?
This engine requires the added vacuum from the turbo suction for the CCV system to function properly.
If it is not functioning properly, pressure inside the engine's crankcase and this will cause engine seals to leak oil, especially the rear main oil seal. This has been reported by several on LOST.
This is the thread about excessive blowby and dangers of crankcase pressure buildup, it's kinda long but has a lot of information:> viewtopic.php?f=5&t=80491

There are crankshaft end play shims involved with the replacement of the rear main seal on this engine so you must be very careful when taking things apart and putting everything back together.

Here are a couple of threads and one video on rear seal replacement, hope they are helpful.

Thanks for reaching out to us about your issue with the rear engine seal on your 2005 KJ CRD. I'm sorry to hear that it's been causing leaks despite being replaced twice in two years.
It's possible that the seal wasn't installed correctly or that the surface where the seal is pressed against is damaged or worn. In this case, it may be a good idea to have a professional mechanic take a look at it.
Another option that you may consider is truck ecm reprogramming, which can also help to fix any issues related to the engine and improve its performance.
