Hell, under an hour is pretty good. Even Denver is at least an hour and a half to any Mountain.

Hood's a cool place. Been a couple of times.

I understand the sacrifice tho. I sacrificed a whole nother life to live the one I do now. I left Chicago for..... Four miles from the lifts @ Winter Park, making snow and grooming in the winter, raft guide in the summer, poor and happy.

Jayme - ever been to the ski place in Lisle?

No, not yet. Is it any good? I was going to check it out last winter but never got to it. I know lift tix were pretty cheap...

The city park that's practically in our back yard in Elgin has some good sledding hills... we used those for snowboarding. I only went out twice last year, so I'm probably pretty rusty by now. :(

The year before last, we always went to Chestnut Mountain near Galena - ever been there? It's a bit much for a day trip, but still fun.

I've wanted to check out the lisle place... cant be much more than a little hill... ?

Usually make a weekend trip to lake geneva =/

And on topic, I've manage to get four boards and four boarders in my jeep once before thankfully i only lived 30 minutes away from the mountain then. I will be looking at board racks this winter as well!

This brings back memories for me. I was at Mt. Hood several years ago but for a different reason. Hood river is a world famous windsurfing hot spot (aka 'the gorge') and i was into windsurfing big time back then.

Also, i drove up to the ski lift in the summer time and did lots of mountain biking in the hills. I was surprised there was no signs about bears in that area. Since i'm from Alberta i'm used to seeing bear signs everywhere. I guess bears are not a problem there.
