I have an 05 renegade with the larger silver roof rails and I want to get a roof basket not sure which one, but I am just curious if the rails are able to support a basket and camping gear and hold up to highway speeds or do I need to get a set of sport rails. if anyone has mounted baskets to factory Rene bars any help would be great |

The silvers roof rail you are talking about are rated for 75# and the sport, all black ones are rated for 150#. RL Fabrications makes some but they will cost a pretty penny or two but are great looking, or you can fab your own, but I think they will be fine just make sure to even the load as much as possible and tie everything down good. BTW I stood on my OEM roof rails before and they never broke and I weigh 180#, they were the Sport/ Limited model that was all black. |

I have the same rails and bought the MOPAR cross rails and put a Yakima rack on it. I just got back from a 1800 mile round trip to New Orleans with the Yakima basket on with all my luggage in it, no problems, at all. Just check every few hundred miles to be sure things are still tight. |
