Post subject:  AVATAR SIZE...VERY IMPORTANT

Hey guys, I have had tons of folks complaining about the size of some of the avatars on the site. The size limit is 150X150... We have seen many as larg as 250 and larger. This blows the page way long and really make the post all jacked up.

PLEASE reduce your avatars to 150 X 150 or the moderators will start deleting the ones that are too big.

If you right click on your avatar in your profile section...It will tell you the size.

Please correct this ASAP so that the entire site is not paying the price for a few avatars that are too big.

Thanks

I remembered that the old site had a size restriction of 100x100 so that was the size I made mine (plus I use it on other sites that have similar size restrictions). Just trying to do my part...

Here's a website you can use to resize an image. You upload, enter a max width or height, and it gives you back a perfectly resized file.

This is for those of you without photoshop skills/access.

Anyone know another site or link where I can resize my avatar...it is 225x152. The link above does not come up for me, and photobucket, which I use for resizing only has set sizes. It goes from 50% to 25% which makes the image shrink to 37x52 or something which is ridiculously small?

Don't know of any sites to do the resizing, but if you want to send me a copy of the image I'll be happy to size it for ya. Drop me a PM and I'll send you my e-mail addy.

Thank you very much for the offer to resize it Corwyyn, but I really want to learn how to do this myself. If there is a link that explains this, I would love to see it...Like I said, photobucket just gives 75, 50 and 25% of original which didn't hit the spot. I went into paint with the picture, but couldn't size it down properly. I would take u up on the offer, but I want to learn so I can do the same to other photos as well...Thank u again-Joe

I finally got it...lol...lost the better part of my life while doing so...lol

Agree. Gimp is a really nice program considering that it is FREE. Also tried going to the site you had linked but couldn't get on. I'm running Firefox so I decided to try the link in IE as well and it still would not work...

What about these images in the signature area? How do we do these and what size limits?

You do those with the 'img' tags the same way you put a picture in your posts. As far as size there's no set rule about it but I try to keep mine to around 150 x 700 pixels or less, that makes a nice fit and doesn't force the page wider (which would require scrolling over to read everything).

Hmmm, I think you need some more info in there. It's missing the 'http://' along with the first part of the web address...
