HOW DO I GET RID OF THE BOX WITH THE RED X IN IT???

You mean the one under your 'lifetime member' title? Unfortunately you can't - there is supposed to be a lifetime member logo at that location but we've not been able to get them to show up since our problems with the site back in October.

Also there is a test section, so if we could keep the "test" posts in there that would be great.

Thanks, now I know it's not me having the problem
Photo Buck has a resizing option and it seems to work but when I linked to it it seems to revert back to 640x480. I finally gave up and used Kodak Easy share and selected "thumb nail.
I also could not get the above link to the image/viewer to work but there's a lot I "can't get to work"

I have tried with no success to get an avatar photo up. I have been linking it to my avatar on the JeepKJ site and nada! I have even tried using pics with a 80X60 dimension and a 2.27KB file size. I know we get 150X150 with an impossibly small 3 KB file size but what gives? I enter the url into the box provided, I hit save changes and nothin. Do I need to do something different. Does the LOST site not accept the url from the JeepKJ site? Do I need a certain number of posts to have an avatar? What gives amigos???

You need to copy the url from wherever it is hosted like photobucket, etc.

Paste up the url you are using and maybe we can figure out whats wrong.

I was using this as a trial avatar until I figured out what I need to do. I still can't figure out how to get a pic 150x150 and 3kb's. Anyway here is my attempted avatars URL...

Post subject:  Need help with Mac

I have been trying for... hours... to get an avatar photo in. I cannot shrink any picture on my Mac down to something usable. I even called Apple tech support and went through everything with them, no luck. I tried online places but many are limited to PCs, and other downloadable programs did not seem to make it onto my computer. Yeah, I'm a little computarded, can anyone help me? Does it have to do with the initial size/quality of my photo right from the camera?

Shouldn't have anything to do with the original file size (unless it was very small and you were trying to blow it up which you aren't). Not sure what version of the OS you are running but have you tried the Image Shackle app? Looks like it will do the job if it will run on the OS version you have.

No luck with anything. KBs are always too high. Can never get them down to 3 KB even when photo becomes blurry and the size of a pinhead.

No avatar for me! Thanks anyway!

Just so everyone understands, as far as I can tell the 3KB limit on file size for avatars is only for image files hosted on the forum (which we don't do). As long as you have an image of 150x150px hosted off-site (photobucket, cardomian, etc) you will be fine - heck mine is 10KB but it is hosted on photobucket, and I've deleted avatars in the 500x400px range which is just ridiculously large  JJ's animated avatar above is around 540KB but again it is hosted off-site and isn't anywhere near a problem (although it will make you dizzy if you watch it long enough  ).

So go ahead and post it up, shouldn't be a problem.

Out of sheer stupidity I tried again. I use Picasa, through Google. I shrunk my image down in Mac Preview to a lousy 20x30 pixels, or, 2.8 KB. It still did not load. I tried tiny and large files from Picasa. Nothing loaded. I am not signing up for more web places. Why can't we have more KBs on this site? I bet that is my whole problem.

I've tried a few times but have not been successful. Can someone make an avatar from this picture? Feel free to use it yourself.

Paste this https web address exactly as shown below in the avatar address bar in your control panel.

Link off-site:
Enter the URL of the location containing the avatar image you wish to link to.

https://image.ibb.co/fgrsfm/Homebrewer_Frig.jpg

Do not add or use the [img] coding on each end, only the exact https address

Avatar dimensions:
set the size to 125 X 100 and then click submit.

I tested it and it worked just fine for me, so it should work for you!
