Post subject:  Who makes the best (most popular) skid plates?

I know Im asking a lot of questions these days. Please bare
with me as Im trying to learn as much as possible as fast as possible. I'm trying to put together a list of mods together so that I have them on hand when I finally get my truck. I'm at the skid plate portion of my list. Can you tell me who makes the best/most popular skid plates, and which ones you guys think are madatory? I was thinking at a minimum the transission skid plate would be necessary.

Thanks in advance.

Front engine plate, tranny & transfer case and gas tank. Also sliders to protect your rocker panels. I think the best would be Rock Lizard, Marty makes some great stuff!

Thanks, I didn't see skid plates on the menu the last time I was there. I already have their skids, roof rack and rear bumper planned.

The issue with skid plates is who makes them.

Mopar has a full set (~1/8" stamped/welded plate)- tranny is questionable if you're going to keep up with the Sammi
Skid Row is probably the only other one out there (3/16" thick) - sold through JeepinAl among others

All-J's Superskid - stopped production - although used ones come up for sale (1/4" thick so generally only scratched paint)
Rock Lizard has talked about a full set - but no samples/test sets yet.

and ScreamingLizard up in DFW made a beautiful one off custom for Rubigade - expensive so I don't think anyone else ordered one.

Kilby has a nice gas tank skid. At least they had, don't know if they still make them.

As Pablo says, Kilby has a decent gas tank skid... it's what the folks at Skid Row used to recommend, until they started making their own gas tank skid.
Skid Row plates are pretty solid. I have some on my TJ. Currently zero skids on my KJ, but don't intend to go anywhere needing them with it. It's a mall-crawler only.
