Post subject:  Seatbelts...differences in years??

Hell all,

I searched and didnt get an answer...but since im new im thinking this was probably asked/answered before, but i still cant find stuff using the search.
Anyways...volunteering at a Weimaraner rescue a while back I had a dog chew through my seatbelt in about 2 seconds flat. I have a 2006 Renegade. I found a 2004 pass side front seatbelt online from a recycle auto place. I started tearing everything apart today and realized the belt assembly in mine has a bunch of electronics on it. one where it attaches to the seat and then a big part on the retractor part itself.
The one I ordered does not have any of this stuff.
First, why is this stuff necessary? Im thinking it has to do with the annoying chime when you do buckle up. Is there anything else?
Secondly, how do I determine if a different belt I order will have this on it? Are there certain models or years that had it and others that did not??
Seams like it would be something standard on all years and models, no?

Thanks
Sam

Thought I would post the answer in case anyone else ever needs the info. Before 05 the seat belts didnt have the electronics in them that need to plug into the airbag sensors. 05-07 are different. they have all this stuff for the airbag sensors on them.
