Newbie Here, and I have a couple of questions that maybe someone on here can answer for me.

This past weekend we bought a 2004 Liberty Limited and on the window sticker it said that the vehicle is equipped with the tow package. Further down on the sticker it says that the gear ratio is 4.10. We have the automatic transmission, if that makes a difference. Did Jeep offer 4.10 in the Liberty? My other question is the vin number. Would the vin number tell me or is it stamped on the axle housing or should I just crawl underneath my Liberty and rotate the tire 1 revolution and figure it out for myself. Which would be the only way to see if I have the LSD, as well.

The only way you would have the 4.10's is if you have the 2.4 I4 gas engine, there are exceptions for export models. Are you in the US? If so and it has the V6(or a CRD) you do not have 4.10's unless the 1st owner installed them. The only gear OEM ratio for the V6(or CRD in the US) and auto trans is 3.73's.

That still leaves the previous owner changing the gears maybe.

Older couple probably did not change the gears as they left the rest of the vehicle stock, except for the towbar and electrical wiring for turning the Liberty in to a tow vehicle.
