Help!
I would like to know how to change the coolant in my 2004 Liberty 2.8crd auto.
There does not seem to be a Vm Motori engine manual obtainable anywhere. Jeep Liberty (Cherokee in the UK) manuals don't cover the diesel engines.
I wonder if anyone knows the correct procedure.
Thanking you in advance if you can help.
UPDATE! Entire workshop manual available via a link on a CRD Tech post
I turned radiator petcock/drainplug a quarter anti-clockwise to a stop. A flat plumbers spanner worked best, something that won't allow much force and gets into the space easy. Found it in my dad's garage. However, nothing came out so after a few tries and running out of time, I gave up. This will be a lot messier than I hoped as I will have no option but to pull lower rad hose. I might as well do a flush with distiled water as well.
By the way, when I went to my local Jeep/Chrysler/Mercedes dealer the man at the parts desk said they were having difficulty getting Mopar HOAT antifreeze. He gave me Mercedes-Benz Antifreeze Spec 325.0. He said it's the same thing (I think it's their long life 15 year stuff). He gave me 5 liters (undiluted) saying I wouldn't need any more. Didn't think this was enough, I've been told approx. 11 liters comes out when you pull bottom hose. So I bought the smaller bottle of 1.5 litres as well. He also told me Mercedes only use one type of antifreeze.
The gentleman who kindly replied to this post suggesting I move it to somewhere where it might stand a chance of being replied to is obviously absolutely right. The problem is I don't know how and I've spent so much time writing this, I need to go and do something else (like eat, sleep, pick the kids up from school etc).
I'll post again after I change the coolant.
Cheers!
