What exactly is and how do you do a clevis lift on a KJ? |

Been explained many times but its basically when you slide the bottom of the shock up out of the clevis 3/8 of an inch. This gives you 3/4 of an inch more lift Most use (3) 2 inch conduit nuts per side for measurement purposes since each are 1/8 inch thick |

Is it the shock inside the strut assembly? I have 138k miles on it, the srpings look pretty worn. Would new struts help bring it up at all? or do you think theyre still fine with 138k miles? I was thinking new struts with strut spacer. Just trying to level it out. |

If you look under the KJ at the suspension you will find a upside down u shaped piece that connects from the lower control arm to the bottom of the shock, THAT is the clevis If you have 138,000 miles the KJ then shocks and springs are done. I've had them here with 75,000 miles that were sitting over an inch lower than new stock height. Your ride has to be getting really bad Only way to fix it is to replace both the springs and shocks. A spacer would be the worst thing you could add at this point |

Thanks Do I have to replace the shock also? or just the strut assembly (The spring and shock inside that)? and does the back need to be done too? |

I am sure your springs are tired. It all depends on what you want to do. Return to factory height or improve ride quality and raise the Jeep. KJs do not have struts. It is a coil over shock assembly. Why so many suppliers call them struts is beyond me. Chances are both your springs and shocks are in need of replacement. Im sure the shocks are toast. Don't buy spacers to bring life back to your springs, that would be like new shoe laces for hobo shoes. Use the search tool on this site, as well as jeepkj.com. Tons of info on what works and doesn't work. |
