Just a quick question. I have had my KJ since I drove it off the lot back in 2003. She has about 145K miles, original clutch etc etc. Today is the first time the red oil light came on. I checked the oil and I was about a quart low. What could have caused this? I have never had issues before and there are no leaks from what I can find. I added a quart (unfortunately not the same oil) but its better then nothing. Thoughts on what could have caused it to go low? |

Worn valve guides,restricted PCV valve,bad oil rings,lekas,and many other things in a higher mileage engine or even a new engine uses some oil(some more then others).1qt per 1000 miles is not a concern for any vehicle manufacturer these days and is considered normal.Just need to check your oil often. As far as the oil light that is a low oil pressure light which will turn on when the oil pressure drops below 3psi,has nothing to do with oil level. |

Thanks for the advice. That's very interesting. It went on in the AM. I stopped to get gas and when I turned it back on there was no light. I have driven it 3 times since then and (fingers crossed) still no lights. I'll keep and eye out on the levels and light and post if anything happens. Thanks again. |
