I have a 2002 jeep Liberty and I am loosing about a quart a week. I have changed PVC valve. I have read threads of this happening but the don't have the solution to the problem. It is not going out my tailpipe and all plugs were clean. Where is it going. Please help. Thank you!

Put cardboard under it at night to see if it's dripping out. Also check to make sure there isn't a bunch of oil mixed in with your radiator coolant.

Any change in engine performance since this started happening?

I do believe there is oil in my coolant. There is oil on the inside of the cap of the coolant lid.

Bummer, but that explains it. You probably have a head gasket leak, which should be fixed ASAP before damage happens in your engine. You've been smart enough not to let the engine oil level fall to critical levels, so it's probably still fixable at this point, but I wouldn't recommend continuing to drive it in its current condition. Take it to a trusted mechanic.

I always thought the head gasket leak was the other way around and water would be in oil. Is it different on a Jeep?

I think it depends on where the breach in the head gasket occurs and the differences in pressure at that point in the motor. Head gasket can lead to 1) oil in the coolant, 2) coolant in the oil, or 3) oil or coolant in the cylinders where the combustion happens. #2 kills your engine bearings by making the oil less slippery. #3 fouls the spark plugs and valves and creates either steam or blue smoke in the exhaust. #1 will foul up your cooling system and lead to low oil pressure (which luckily you caught).
