I get a clunk not a ticking sound sometimes when I turn the wheel from a stop and accelerate. Can't pinpoint it any input would be helpful. I thought it was the front CV shafts but they are OK.

Lug nuts?

Tie rod ends?

Or more likely, ball joints?

Hub Wheel Bearings?

Engine mounts?

[I"m assuming it's coming from the front..]

It's not any of those I checked them. I think it might be transmission mount or the front drive shaft.

I just started getting this clunk in my 07 libbey. I haven't had the moment to locate source but i think it is somewhere in the drive shaft. tranny area. Im thinking maybe old u-joints ?

The rear C V Joint of the front prop shaft has a known history of short lifespan. Other than that it really requires inspection

Yes, for awhile I have been hearing a clunk when I back off the accelerator suddenly and let my Jeep coast. Also, since I did the rear control arm recall replacement this Summer I am hearing much more squeaking and sound from underneath.

I am the original owner/driver and after six years parking in my garage every night I have been parking it outside now so maybe some connections are moving.

Any recommendations for how to actual find out what is making these noises ?
Just crawl around under?

The two rubber bushings on the ends of the boomerang (rear upper control arm) mounts directly to the body right underneath the rear seat and when they get worn and weak will make a bad "clunking" noise every time you let of the the go petal or when the tranny is doing some shifting up or down under certain throttle conditions.
You can replace the boomerang with a new one from Mopar or Moog or if you want something real heavy duty you can install an Iron Rock rear upper control arm using one of my custom mounts which allows this upgrade. A little bit more money but the last one you will ever have to purchase as they are super heavy duty units.
PM if interested.

T Y but this sound is more metallic clinking sort of a loose connection feel with a bit of a back and forth when I release the pedal.
Could it be in the rear differential? Or, driveshaft?

First thing to check is the U-Joints on the rear driveshaft. To properly check them, you will need to remove the driveshaft so you can manually feel for any rough spots or looseness (slop) while flexing the u joints by hand. A bad worn out u joint cup should be visually evident, but dry and worn bearings in the cups can only be checked fully by removal and disassembly of the u joints themselves.
U-Joints are notorious for making a popping sound when the needle bearings get worn and dry and the hollow tube of the driveshaft seems to help resinate the sound making it louder. :banghead:

If you pull the driveshaft to inspect the u-joints, be sure to grease the slip yoke splines before you reinstall. Although this may not be related to your metallic clinking sound, some grease on the slip yoke may eliminate some of that "back and forth" feel you are getting when you release the pedal.
Here's a good thread that I found useful: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=24674
