I just ordered a few of these. My dealer came up with Part # 06506644AA. Surprisingly this is heaver duty and more robust than what came with the skid plate.

They are so much better. I ordered more to replace the others,

Those are exactly what came with my skid plates. (Bought from Jparts.com)

Do you have any pictures of the "crappy" ones?

I recall when I installed the HD nutserts I was baffled at the idea that had been put into my head about poor quality. I like the strong metal ones, but
I'm very curious about what others have had to deal with.

I love you man! I've been looking all over for a way to get my rockrails on. I found some on eBay and some from a company on the net. Only thing is, their minimum order is 50,000!!! I did manage to sweet talk some one there into send me a sample of 20. They should be here today. If they don't work out I'm headed to the dealership.

I'm afraid I don't. But, they are only 1/3rd as thick as what I just got. And the outer flange (for lack of a better term) only covers the outside of the crossmember by about 1/16 - 3/32". This is where I keep having the problem if you over tighten the bolts they stretch and push thru. I have had a devil of a time getting them back out. Once they push thru the inside there is nothing to hold it into place and you can't back the bolt off.

This thicker one works. When I put it in. I was surprised to note the engine skid which is factory used the HD one. The aftermarket Mopar uses the lighter duty. :?

Jason

Edit: Tonight when I get home I will pull the transfer skid and get some pic's to show you what I'm talking about,

do they come with bolts when you ordered them?
if not, do you know what size the bolts are?

Sorry I took so long to get back to you. The dealer never called to say they where in. I had to call them. (typical :? )

So here are the photos. First we see the original. It’s only about the diameter of a nickel. This is in the frame holding the side of transfer skid in place.

Second we see the larger one. Note how it’s just about the same size as the quarter. This is in the cross member holding the front of the skid.

No I'm sorry this part# is just for the nut. Bolts are metric size M10x35mm with a 1.50pitch (coarse thread) and of course you will need M10 lock washers as well. You can pick them up at Lowe's. Make sure to get grade 8 hardware.

I have had problems with the skid plates on both of my Liberty CRDs.

This information will come in very handy.
