Hello all,

Has anyone thought about a spring get together. I think we should plan plenty of time in advance, in case there is any scheduling conflicts. I think it could be alot of fun to try and get as many people together as possible.

My sentiments exactly. It would be cool if these gravel pits would allow us to mess around in there. :D

this is how it always goes. a few people talk then the forum dies. then one person sets a date and then the forum dies. and then like a week before when the meet is supposed to be everyone gets interested and posts like crazy!

when are you free man? JMSMN said he could help me whenever. i will have a better idea on Saturday because i will know if i will have a second car around. that and i need to find out how much it is to rent a spring compressor and how much an alignment is.

does anyone have a compressor i can use? i am really stretching my budget right now but i really want this on lol.

its for sure going on some time between Saturday coming up and a week from then. it just has to. plus i will have the heated garage and hopefully my moms BMW for back up if i need anything.

Hey beep jeep,
I called checker, (oriley now I guess), and you can rent the spring compressors for 46$ for 48 hours. Now when you return the compressors in good condition you get your full 46$ back. So it will actually cost you nothing. That is the checker east down excelssior from subway about a mile. On the corner of excelsior and blake. Hope this helps.

PS This saturday night would be good after your mom leaves.

One more thing, we will have to press out the studs in the old plate and press them into the new one, does anyone know iy we can use a hammer and a piece of wood to pound these out and into the new plate. Otherwise we are going to have to find a place with a press to do it.

Post subject:

are you sure? i have never heard of the need for a press. keep in mind mine is an 03. and from what i heard you will only need basic tools. at least that's what maximum carnage told me.

Basic tools only if you put in spacers. Your are switching your top plate from a factory to a daystar upper plate. Everywhere I have read is that the studs in the top plate are pressed in. Right on daystars instructions they say that they are pressed in. Almost 100% positive but I will do some more research.

I think we should be able to pound them out using some wool and a BFH. If not we will just have to get creative, we will get them out and on though.

use a vice on a bench and open it big enough to let the stud fall through and give a good wack with hammer and piece of wood on top. to put the studs back in use a few washers and tighten it up on the new plate then they should be good to go :D .

That sounds like a good idea, i dont havea vise at my house nor do I think he has one. He might, but I think we could get creative enough with some wood pieces to make it work. Where at in SD is winner, im from rosholt way up in the NE corner of the state.

When I installed my lift, I don’t remember having to press anything in but then again this is a Daystar not a Rusty’s. I’m sure a vise or a couple of c-clamps might do the job.
