I have seen a bunch of these WJ's in the 8-$10,000 range and there is so much available. I am thinking about trading off my Liberty. Shoot, I owe $22,000 on it.

I can see it now, my 3 kids in the back, the wife playing with the dual climate control and her heated seat and rollin in style over the trail. All while saving money every month on my new(to me) WJ instead of the IFS Liberty. I love my liberty but since I owe 22 grand on it I can't justify the SFA swap. A WJ already has a SFA :D 8)

99's had some engine overheating problems....might want to look into that if your thinking of a 99

Keep in mind that a ZJ/WJ is kind of an "odd duck" when you get into the aftermarket(not nearly as bad as the KJ) but it sure isn't an XJ when it comes to Mod's.

Good Luck

actually the WJ is really bad. The ZJ has TONS of stuff compared to the WJ.

I lifted my WJ 3" and put 32's on it. I love it, and have tackled about everything I have come up to thus far. I drive about 3500 miles a month, and I love my V8 and comfort!

Off road, the WJ is great, my quadradrive is terrific, and I simply love it.

Can't really go wrong in my book.

Watch out for "blend door" issues. It's a 8-10 hour shop job to replace the HVAC system indoor air introduction system. This affects the Automatic Temperature Systems only, so JUSt the limited and Overland models.

Pre 2004 WJ's suffer from weak brake rotors that warp.
check out www.wjjeeps.com for extensive information on the WJ...

WJ's wobble enough as it is with regular chassis and body, I can't imagine how unstable they must be with those lifts..
Not liking it..

Go with a wrangler, or stick to your KJ.

I have seen some very nice ZJ's in the later years like 97 98. I might check out a few of those too and there is a ton of aftermarket support. It looks like the 98 5.9 limited is a good one to look for and there a few in my area for good prices. I think I just like to be different. Everyone has wranglers plus I need the room for the family.

We have a few guys around us that wheel grands
some stock to some with 5" long arms and 33's
I just bought my LTB's from a guy who has 5" and short arms on a grand with the 5.9L
They are very wheelable rigs

Hello!

If you're still looking into getting a WJ, here's another great place to go for some research.

http://www.mallcrawlin.com

The MallCrawlin forums are full of crazy Grand Cherokee owners that know everything (good and bad) there is to know about WJ/ZJ's.

Grands are very capable off road and are beginning to have pretty strong after market support. I've had my WJ for 5 years that I've been very happy with. It's up on Clayton's longarms -the best!- (http://www.claytonoffroad.com/) with about 6" of lift and 33's. I've had no major problems on or off road. It's been "stable" with the proper mods and handles fine.

AND they just plain look great. Here's mine as it is now (with of course of HUGE to do list).

Or you can nuts and put your ZJ on 42's.

Whatever floats your boat... or your wallet. Good luck with your decision!
