Could I fit the 245-75-16 that I had on my lifted liberty?

I picked up a 97 grand liited for 500 beans and it nees a little work. It runs nice and not much mechanical wrong except rear diff leaking (might just be a seal) and I get some kind of humming noise.
I pulled the front DS and it still does it. this is the all time 4x4 tranny.

other than that, it actually runs and drives nice. Just need to put new springs and shocks.

The humming is the gears being way off. You have a Dana 44A witch is an aluminum housing. The bearings wollow out the housing, and there's nothing you can do about it. If you plan on lifting the Jeep, get a bigger axle, a 14 bolt should do. Of course you'll need the matching 60 for the front, and some 39's

You can squeeze 33's on it stock, but it will require quite a bit of trimming. 31's are better if you don't wanna chop it up.

as soon as I hit 25 or 30 mph thats when it kicks in. it just groans at steady pitch. the faster I go, it stays the same. So your saying I might have front axel problems?

I have been driving it for a few months like that. Nothing seems to get worse.

My liberty engin died so I was parting that out and I just put on 245-75-16 So I was thinking to put them on the grand because thoes tires were called tires at one time.

I was talking about the rear axle. If the front is making noise its most likely the pinion bearing. The t case could be whining to, check the oil and start saving to buy a new one. If you have a 242 its ok, but if its a 249 get rid of it. The viscous coupling goes bad and locks in or out of 4x4, ether way is no good.
