My son Chris recently got his permit and I have been letting him do a Lot of driving including driving off road. He has done some limited off roading over the last year or so including some in Moab but now he is getting to drive entire trails. Yesterday we went up to Big Bear where he got to drive all day. We did both Gold Mtn. and John Bull. Gold is considered a moderate trail while John Bull is considered Most Difficult.
Naturally he had a blast and is hooked.
Here are some pics.....
On Gold Mtn. While considered moderate, there are some tough spots w/ bypasses.

Naturally he wanted to take the tougher lines.

These pics from John Bull. I really only spotted him or changed his line if I saw him heading for trouble He did real good picking the lines.

If he can meet some challenges I have made for him for grades and general behavior, he just might get to drive to Moab in April and Wheel some trails there. Imagine getting your license in Feb. and getting to drive to and wheel Moab!?!?

WAY TO GO CHRIS!!!! Very cool being able to wheel. Guess you have some major incentives to study hard. Can't wait to see you wheeling in Moab. Oh way cool too Papa JJ. You must be very proud. Can't wait to teach my son how to wheel.

later, mike

I am proud. :D Chris is a great kid. He has the normal teen issues as most of us have had but overall he is pretty awesome. I will say that getting into Jeeps and off roading has been the best thing We have Ever done as a family. It is so much better then other things we have done in the past as far as bringing our family closer together. I can't wait for my son Sean to start driving too so we can go out and have three or maybe four Jeeps on the trails.

Not sure. Not restricting them from it but not sure they care enough at this point. Chris is more interested in his Myspace page then posting on here, more "hotties" to chat with over there I guess?
