So my buddy has a ford 8.8 (rear) axle, and he's preparing to put it on his 91 4-door XJ (I think that he has the dana 35 on it), the thing that stinks is that it looks like he has to wait a week for parts should he order the kit to make the axle bolt to his driveshaft...
The reason he's going with this axle is that a friend had built it with a LSD and it has disc brakes that will make it worth the effort to put on the jeep (and it appears to be a bit beefier than the 35)
Does anyone have any info on off the shelf parts that will work for the swap, or is he better off ordering the kit?
Also, he's planning on ultimatley going with coil springs, but for now he's going to bolt it to the leaf springs, we will be fabricating the suspension ourselves (we have all the necessary tools), but can anyone offer any advice on fabbing control arms, or anything else to do with the coil spring conversion?
He has fabricated control arms for his race saab, but I would like to have some advice for him to bring to the table other than just a spare pair of hands....
Thanks!

The 8.8 swap is popular for the discs, most have 4.10's and a posi and it is easy to make work in an XJ. It sounds like you need some more special info on linking the rear so I would head over to NAXJA and run a search. Their site was down earlier so not sure if they are back up or not.
Good luck and share what you find out and progress pics.
