I know our 3.7 is 5 quarts. however I'm changing my girlfriends and I saw somewhere it was 6 quarts. this is on a 200 GC with the 4.0. Is 6 right? I know we've got alot of XJ fans on here

My LJ with the 4.0 I6 uses 6 quarts of oil. The last time I changed it I had only bought 5 quarts originally. Then after it was drained and refilled, I double checked my owners manual and it said six quarts. So I had to take the wifes car to the parts store to get another quart.

Our 4.0's both take 6 quarts with a oil/filter change.

My 3.7l takes 5quarts but it always reads a tick high on the dip stick if I put a full 5 quarts in.
