Im looking at buying a 1991 XJ 4 door manual and the guy said the clutch acts up as the engine warms up and I was wondering how hard is to to replace a clutch? and about homw much would it cost for a clutch?

I never replaced a clutch in an xj but this is what I would do. Get a price on the clutch replacement at a shop and subtract that cost from the price of the vehicle. If the seller won't go for that split the cost and subtract whatever you agree on with the cost of the xj.

Just a thought.

a clutch ain't all that hard jes pull the tranny and t-case yank out the old put in the new. A couple of buddies makes wrestling the tranny around and back up alot easier. Anew clutch should run about 125- 200 depending on brand and type (heavy duty or stock replacement)

Just go and get it and worry about the clutch later...

I think it has a hydrolic linkage so check that out first.
But definetly get it home then think about the clutch :lol:
