Ok so i've decided to go with the RE 4.5 ex duty lift for my 91 XJ. But don't know where to get the SYE kit for the best price or what my options are for a driveshaft. Gonna be on a tight budget after the lift. So this is the reason for trying to keep the cost down. Thanks in advance!

How cheap do you want it? Have RE toss in a hack-n-tap w/ the lift. Its about as cheap as you can get and you can always upgrade to a beter one down the road if you choose.

Get your new rear shaft from JE Reel, they make nice ones.

On a 96 and up XJ I would go hack and tap but not on a 91. Try jeepinoutiftters.com, and you can search jeepin.com too for lift advice.

Also, for the rear shaft, if you've got an auto AW4, you can use another front shaft from an XJ with an AW4 (much cheaper than aftermarket, and they're cheap and plentiful...and strong enough for sure) and if you have a 5 speed you can find a front shaft from a V8 ZJ.

I would get a standard SYE, not the real short shaft ones. Those are best for TJs with a really short rear shaft as is. The standard ones are fine, and they're cheaper because they reuse the stock speedo gear instead of the crazy electronic junk on the real short ones.

Well you state that you would on a 96+ but not a 91, but didn't say WHY? I do have the AW4/ 8.25 combo. I also plan on running 33's. Wouldn't a HnT get me by just fine for a little while?

The seals are different on the 96+ you can remove the rear driveshaft on a 96 plus and drive around in FWD without dumping fluid out the tailhousing. You cannot do that in a 91.

Lift install starting tonight, hoping to be finished tomorrow. UPS lost one of my rear springs last week so RC had to send another. I'm expecting it to show today. I'll take befor and after pics and post them.
