Hello all,
well this may be a stupid question but here goes...Are jeep wheels from a TJ or YJ etc interchangeble with XJ 's? Im looking at replacing my wheels on my cherokee and have found some nice used ones that were off a TJ. Thanks for any info you provide.

cheers

They should fit fine. I am using the 16" black rock crawler style wheels that I used to run on my KJ and I have had the Rubi rims on it before also. They fit fine.

Yes, most YJ, TJ, and XJ wheels will interchange.
stock specs
15x7 - 5.25" backspace = YJ,TJ,XJ
15x8 - 5.5" backspace = TJ

most aftermarket wheels will fit them all too.

15x7 - 3.75"to4.5" backspace
15x8 - 3.75'to4.75" backspace

If you want to run wide 12.5" tires on an 8" rim, you would want a 4.5"-4.75" backspace if you are running stock fender flairs.

I am running 15x8 - 3.75" backspace with 31x10.5 tires and the front tires stick out a little, rear tires are flush with flairs. I put a set of 33x12.5 tires on the same size wheels from a friends TJ on my XJ and the tires tread stuck out about 1.5" past the flairs.

I believe the only ones that won't fit will be from a WJ Grand Cherokee because they use a 5x5" bolt pattern.

i tried it before and they worked perfectly for me. most jeep wheels from a tj and yj are interchangeable with xj.

There have been issues reported over the years in trying to fit factory Jeep 15" rims to the KJ due to the larger brake system. Particulary, the factory alloy rims are thicker and have been known to rub the (front, IIRC) calipers. Spacers are supposed to help. Obvioulsy I doubt that someone has tried every single factory rim, so some 15" allow wheels may work fine. 16" KJ wheels work on the XJ/MJ/TJ/YJ just fine.

I personally love the canyon rims amd would like to find a cheap set for my MJ.
