Found out yesterday after 15 years of having one that I am losing my company van. This economy sucks. But at least I still have a job. My work tools will not fit in my Miata ( the wife won't give up her KJ) so I needed a new ride. I found a 2000 XJ this morning It has a lot of miles 180,000(heck my libby almost has that many) but seems to be well taken care of. The price was right and she still came down another 500 bucks. 8) I won't pick it up until Tuesday so I don't have any pics yet. Looking forward to building another jeep. 8)

GARY, this is great news! We all know that the XJ is one of the greatest Jeeps ever made. I can’t wait to see photos and watch your build. My XJ has approximately 173,000 miles and runs strong. You will like the longer stroke that you get with the inline 6, thus giving you the torque that you don’t get with the 3.7 KJ. Image

It Probably won't be ready in time for Moab. Besides the Kj is already all set up for that type of trail ride. But you never know I guess it could happen. :JEEPIN:

Picked up the XJ tonight. I was out in the garage checking everything out took a look at the owners manual and it said 2001. Wen't in the house to check the title and it is a 2001. Build date 01/2001. The owner told me it was a 2000. 8) Looking everything over I haven't found any problems. All the fluids are clean, diffs were marked recently so it looks like they have new oil in them. How do you tell if it has ABS? It does need a front tire looks like a slow leak you can see were she has been driving it with low pressure. It was dark when I got it home so I will post pics tomorrow.

So basically you’re trying to say that your jeep is only one year older than Jayme’s Jeep. The only difference is that you have a SFA.

We will see....... might of found a problem. The heater gets hot, kinda. Antifreeze was low. I put in what I had and it helped. Drove it around it is a little warmer. And did not find any leaks. Should you use Hoat antifreeze? Need to get more it is not quite full yet.

I bought the cheap “Polar LongLife” antifreeze/coolant. It’s a 50/50 Pre-diluted mix and suppose to be a 150,000 mile/5 year coolant. It works fine.

I found a front left fender at a salvage yard 100 bucks and it is the right color. 8) And a front seat 50 bucks at the same yard. The previous owner was lets say plus size and the seat seems to lean a little to the right. (It looks bent) It is right on the way for Taylor to pick it up the next weekend he comes home from college.

Yeah, from what I read in the Haynes manual, it didn’t look easy. Lots of steps involved. :dizzy: I wish I could be there to help. Hopefully we’ll see you sometime during Christmas Break........ and eat some good BBQ. :pepper:

Sucks about losing the work van, but congrats on the XJ. I know you'll have fun with it.

There's way more aftermarket products out there for XJs than for KJs, much less the non-existent options for KKs. In case you weren't already aware, Quadratec carries a variety of XJ stuff. Apparently based upon some parts I've previously bought from them, I'm on their mailing list and get their catalog every few months or so.
