So, how did the SYE kit install go? I've been thinking about adding the AA SYE Kit sometime during January/February. I'm saving for parts as we speak.

Ive been slacking, I know.

The SYE was actually quite easy. I did the install without removing the t-case also. The only issue I has was trying to get a stuck bolt out of the rear axles yoke. Ended up breaking an easy out inside of it. Let me tell you, it takes a while to drill through one of those. So right now its got a bolt going all the way through. Should probably do the U-bolt mod to it. Its just so hot and humid during the day to want to do anything and I work graveyard. I also ended up using a front driveshaft from another auto xj in the rear of mine, works like a champ and 10x cheaper. There are NO vibs that I have experienced buy I havent taken it over 45 yet.

Ive actually been contemplating selling it. I really love the thing but I cannot get rid of my KK without losing tons of money so its probably gonna be the one that goes, if I do it anyway. Thing is I got a roommate now and he just bought a new car and kept his old one. Thats 4 vehicles at my house now. Ive only got a two car garage and one side is taken up by all our kayaking crap. Then my wheeling buddy got a new job and moved to Texas so I dont even have anyone to go with anymore. I dont think its seen any "trail" use since Jan/Feb and thats what its original intended purpose was.

I feel like I should just get rid of it but I dont want to let it go! :5SHOTS:

EDIT: 2000th post, woot!

You put so much time into the XJ that I would hate to see you get rid of it. :(

If it serves a purpose, then keep it. But if it doesn't serve a purpose, then sell it. There's no reason to sink money into something that you don't want to keep for the long haul.

Did you mainly want to downsize a vehicle, or do you have plans to replace it with something else?

Wow, I didn't know that you were in the military. How long will you be deployed? Let us know if you go through with the 70 Chevy c10.

Im selling my kayaks and stuff in the garage so I make extra room and funds. Chevy and KK will be in garage. Roommate is selling his car and his truck can sit in the driveway.

It will be a happy reunion. It will also be interesting to know what changes she had in the last three years of your absence! Hopefully she's in good condition!

No pics yet. Cant find the charger to my camera. Will have to use phone. It still looks about the same anyway.

So as the story goes...
I sold this Cherokee over 3 years ago before going on a deployment. My roommate and I both had two vehicles at the time and I had a ton of stuff in a 2 car garage, if you can barely call it that. I needed to make room stat so all my stuff could be put in storage while I was gone. I honestly would have sold the KK in a heart beat. However I was still making payments on it and it was recently in an accident, so I would have been upside down. Well days before going to the desert stupid me finds another must have on craigslist, a 70 C10 SWB. My step dad had two of the 67-72 C10 body trucks when I was growing up and always wanted one, this was priced right. I left the truck sitting on base when I deployed. Came back, bought a house and the truck sat for at least a year. Finally got it to the house and tore down, oh its still tore down. Plus house projects. Can never have enough time or money. I have regretted selling the XJ for as long as I can remember. I would day dream about some day once again owning another. I looked off and on over the years but could never pull the trigger knowing I have too many projects and hobbies already. Friday my friend tells me hes buying a ZJ. Hes had other Jeeps and was looking to get back into one. Hung out Saturday watching some football and talked Jeeps, my old XJ, wanting another.... blah blah blah. Browse craigslist that night found one that was nice looking and the price was right, unfortunately red paint and almost 2 hours away. Never seriously considered going to look at it. Monday rolls around and Im browsing craigslist at work. (dont tell the boss) My old XJ is for sale! I forwarded it to my buddy, of course he says buy it. I took it as a sign from God and messaged the guy and told him I previously owned it. He was kinda pissed at first cause the guy who sold it to him lied to him about some stuff and I guess it was beat on and not taken care of. The guy I sold it to had it for a couple years before selling to this guy. This guy is selling cause hes moving to Hawaii. So Tuesday I go pull the funds out of the bank and drive it home. I feel like if I can ever get this thing to the condition I am comfortable daily driving it and would take it on road trips the KK will be up for sale. That could very well be a year in the making.

Anywho
Well I found quite a few things that need fixed. Some new, some I hadn't done the first time. Some caused by the first owner and shoddy repairs by the second owner. The second owner did start dumping good money into it. I paid a few hundred dollars less then I sold it for 3 years ago. So basically I put it in storage for 3 years and it came out with extra parts.

Bad: Still more to inspect. These are just the first findings.
ALIGNMENT! OMG this thing is all over the road.
Driveline Vibes
Upper coolant hose rubs battery
washer fluid wires disconnected from the reservoir for some reason
Fogs need rewired or at least cleaned up
Seat belt buckle button was funky
Seat latch spring broke, seat wanted to keep sliding back and forth hitting the gas and brakes
Half a dozen leaks (this is how I know when to add fluid)

Previous owner installed:
Full Traction Long Arm kit
Full Traction Track Bar
M.O.R.E Engine mounts
Rustys Steering Conversion
Optima Red Top
Small LED fogs
upgraded headlights of some sort
(thats gotta be about $1600-1750)

I'm happy that you have it back home! Keep us posted on the progress that you make.

I trust my XJ to get me up and down the road at speeds 60 mph or slower, but I have a little too much vibration to exceed those speeds. I still don't have a slip yoke eliminator. But so far, the Jeep does everything that I want it to do. I would like to dial in the suspension and steering components for a smoother ride at higher speeds.
