So this is the XJ I sold my white KJ to get for my wife It is a 1990 Laredo, It has a BDS 3 inch Lift, ugly Richard Cepek DC-1 wheels and BFG 31x10.50 All Terrains. The paint is horrible but It was such a good deal I couldn't turn it down.
The first thing I did was a major Tune-Up and I replaced the fuel pump assembly (to fix the faulty gauge) Then I basically rewired the entire truck from headlight to taillight (someone really hacked the wiring in this thing) Then I spent 2 days stripping the mouldings off of the doors and sanding the Maaco paint job off.
Then painted it flat black:
While I had the taillights off I used red nite shades to tint the entire lamp red (I just didn't like the half amber/half red)
all back together
Next I sold the wheels and tires that came with it and installed the stock KJ wheels (painted Graphite) and Duratracs that were on my wifes KJ. I had to buy some 1.5 inch wheel spacer because of the backspacing of the factory KJ wheels but this is what my wife wanted:
Then I found some NOS Jeep keys for the XJ
and of course I just couldn't leave well enough alone
and got a 97-01 front header panel, grille and lights and installed them:
and just yesterday I nixed the crappy metal broken early mirrors for the newer folding plastic 97-01 mirrors:
The KJ wheels look phenomenal on the XJ. This thread will be fun to watch!
