I own a plan Jane 2007 Wrangler X. I heard that they came stock with Dana 35 in the back and a Dane 30 in the front. After crawling under the jeep I found a Dana 44 in the back?? Does anyone know if this is normal? I thought the Dana 44 was just on the Unlimited and Rubicon. Also someone told me that the standard wrangler axles were one wheel wonders instead of a limited slip? When it comes to this area I have no blasted clue. Can someone give me a little education or point me where I can learn something???Thanks

I have a Dana 44 rear in my 07 X. I believe it is standard with an auto trans.
No limited slip though. Stop over to www.jkowners.com for all your JK questions.

if you have an '07 then you have a 44 rear
you also have the traction control stuff
you will find that it works wonders off road

That's not true. I saw several 07 JKs at the dealer that had a Dana 35. If I recall, they were also in fact, manual transmissions. Now I did hear that starting with the 08s, they were going to make the rear 44 standard on all trim levels since it is so highly sought after and the only models they sold with the 35 were to people who don't know the difference.

All I can say is I have a lot to learn. I haven't really done any heavy wrench turning for about 10 years. That was the 1974 360 duster that I built on a shoe string budget. Talk about apples and oranges. Along with the Dana 44 I also have the NSG370 six speed transmission. I was also told that was an upgrade as well from what ever???? Something else I need to check. All I know is that I finally have my wrangler and it likes to eat dirt. I haven't stopped grinning and my 11 year old son goes outside to sit in the wrangler instead of riding his skate board. Just wish I did this a few years ago.

Learn some thing new every day
I though that they all came with a 44
so it is all auto's that came with a 44 or is it like the TJ and you needed to order it that way in the X model?
and then what about the 4 door version?

I may end up selling the TJ and getting a JK
with the price of gas going the way it is a 12 mpg tow rig is not looking good
and at this point the TJ dont like the long drive
well I dont like the long drive in the TJ
