Well here is the story guys, I recently bought an 83 cj8. Has a AMC 360 V8/727 out of an 82 wagoneer. It has recently been updated with MSD 6AL Off Road Ignition, new plugs, coil, wires, cap/rotor etc. I did not install this ignition.
The problem is: It runs, but not well. it idles but tends to be a bit jumpy, kinda rough, then smooths out for a moment, then back to rough. Past idle with no load it seems to rev up fine. I'm sure the timing may be a bit off but the primary issue I can see (in the dark) is arcing! It every where! Coil, Coil wire, Plug wires arcing on anything its near, hoses, PS pump, etc. Even seeing little halo's down around the plugs themselves.
I know the obvious though is bad wires. Well I called MSD and they said their super conductor wires, which I have, should be at 40-50 Ohm's per foot. Every one of them are dead on the impedance. All the insulation looks perfect also.
I went back through and checked grounds, battery grounds to heads with new heavy gauge wire, battery grounds to body, motor mount grounds to frame. Everything new, clean, and tight.
I am at a loss here!
