The bigest Question I have is What kind of MPG's does the Rubicon get?

Well going from the CRD to the Rubicon made me cry the first few tanks but I got over it

I see 14 to 16 city if I keep the old foot light.

I see about 17 to 20 highway at 68mph with the cruise on.

Some will disagree, but I see about the same MPG as my lifted gas 2002 Liberty.

Wes

I've been seeing the same with the TJ I built. 12-14mpg. It is about the same as my lifted 04 Liberty. If you're thinking about switching to the dark side, check out the one I built. It's for sale. You can see it on my website at http://www.doublediamond4x4.com.

I switched over to the dark side (TJ Rubicon) yesterday and no regrets. Don't know much about it yet because I just got it, but I LOVE IT SO FAR! 8)

I can tell you that you don't buy this vehicle for a commuter. If you keep your foot out of the gas and if you have to drive it a long distance daily than leave the top on and the AC running. I don't follow my own advice though

If you don't mind me asking, did you trade your KJ in, or did you sell it privately? How much did you get for it either way?

I traded mine and did not get to much out of it. It had a broken taillight, a huge dent under the drivers door, nearly 70K and a ton of scratches so after it was said and done I got $8,500. I probably would have done better if I sold it right out but who wants to wait for that.

Before you do go to the dark side, think about saving a little extra cash and getting a real nice, but old, CJ or YJ to cruise in. For the bath you'll take getting rid of your CRD you could have the CRD and a fully restored CJ.

That's the route I'm going to go starting in 2008.

The dealer gave me 13K out the door. I only was able to haggle a little about the thousands of dollars I put in my KJ. Sucks I know, but it had a ton of body damage, but only 36K so that was a plus.

I am too thinking about trading my '06 CRD limited for a sweet rubicon unlimited I looked at today. The only thing I didn't like on the new Rubi is it only has the sunrider top and not the dual top option. It would be my dailer driver so I am not to sure how I would like the soft top in our Michigan Winters?? Any input on the new improved soft tops in the Winter months?? How are the heaters in the TJ's??? Not sure if I am going to trade or not, depending on how bad the dealer wants mine back, it only has 4800mi on the ticker. Something about that impact orange Rubicon has me all stirred up again since I almost went with a TJ unlimited when I bought my KJ. Well thanks in advance and I will keep you posted...lol. :)

P.S. if I do trade, at least I won't have to change my user name.....haha.

Soft top is pretty well insulated and the heater works just fine. Dont let that stop you in your decision 8)

Thats funny. My dealership offered me $8,000 for my 02 with 43,000 miles on it. Its sooo hard to sell this KJ and get a TJ!

I have had my Rubi for a little over a year. When I bought it I said that I would only drive it as a second car but I just can't stop driving it. The sunrider top is great. If I don't feel like taken the whole top down I can flip the top up and roll the back window up in just a couple of minutes. About the heat I have never seen a vehicle start putting out heat as fast as the Rubi. I actually have to turn the heat down because it gets to hot for me. Yes the softop is a little noisy but I didn't buy a jeep for luxury. I highly recommend the Rubi. Best vehicle I have ever owned!!!!
