Coal Creek or Land Between the Lakes could even be doable for some Southern lost characters like myself...I usually make it to the Ozarks for some canoeing at least twice a year some great places up there I'm sure to go, we just could use some input from our North Arkansas members (they sometimes check in)....keep me posted though on the Coal Creek LBTL meets...or let me know where you guys are talking about them at....

Two questions about the JK Rubicon four doors......how long is the wheel base?? Looks kinda prone to getting High Centered.....

And two: Have they switched the stock tires on the Rubicon from GY MTR's to BFG's MT?? Looks like it by the tread pattern??

The wheelbase is a bit longer, but no more than an XJ I would say.

The stock rubicon tires are now a 32" BFG MT on a 17" rim.

The four Door model's wheel base is a whopping 116" This is quite a bit longer than an XJ. High centering is a possibility but Jeep took alot of time and engineered the undercarriage enough that there is is almost nothing hanging down from underneath for you to hang up on. The only problem that I noticed with the vehicles length was that while trying to attempt to make short turns with the front locker on was almost impossible. But hey so what if you have to take the extra time to back up. It makes good practice.

If all they did was stretch the LJ than getting hung-up is going to happen with the stock shovel (x-fer skid plate) I know on my LJ that skid is already looking rough.

The JK is completely NEW from the ground up. The only thing I think carries over is the 4:1 241 transfer case and trans. Frame is all new, axles are all new, suspension, body, interior, etc., all new. It is Much flatter underneath than a TJ-L, Unlimited. W/ a 2" lift it could fit 35" tires.

I cannot believe everyone didnt disco the sway bars! That would be the first thing I did! If the libby is 4 door and its wheel base is only 104, why did they feel like the 4 door wrangler must be 116in? :? I think its just to long.

Nothing was ever said that everyone did not disco the JK's. There were alot of people that were unaware of what options these vehicles had. Once we were accustomed to the inner workingsBelieve me that was the first thing to get turned on. I don't think I hardly ever turned on the lockers unless I really needed them. You also have to remember that most of the Media folks have never driven offroad or they weren't comfortable driving a Brand new vehicle thru this type of terrain.

Take one wheeling and I am going to bet you will change your mind. The 4 dr. has lots of room inside, way better than the KJ and is So dang capable out of the box it is crazy. It is by far the most capable, best utility vehicle Jeep has ever made. I think the extra length will only be a problem in a few situations that could be overcome w/ a small lift and slightly larger tires. I think I am sold on getting one but it will have to wait a few years before I am ready for another payment.

Get that limo off the trail!!!!!

Actually I like the JK and as it will have to be priced below the KJ it will be a nice way to save some money :D [/b]

This image posted earlier makes it look real good and actually makes the size/length look appropriate. It's just the real close up shots that make it look longer than it is. I'm smitten! :D

Anyone have any more good trail pictures? I'm saving them in a folder to peek at durring my breaks at work. 8)

Hey guys, Just got back...I had one more event to complete and man what a great time. The new JK wheels like mad and I used disco's all the time and these things flex like mad. I was hoping to have to use the lockers but never did. Had a great time working with every one and a huge thanks goes out to everyone that helped with this event. It will take ma a few days to weed through all the emails while I was gone so please give me a couple of days to get back to some of you. Later...Clint

Yes, That pic shows it disco'd. You can really see and feel the difference on the 4 dr when the front bar is disconnected.

When did BFG change the tread pattern on the MT's? Did I miss something?

Maybe my eyes are just playing tricks on me....

Those JKs are absolutely awesome. So theyre on sale now? I've still gotta while, but I definitely want that for my next vehicle. Now if they put the diesel in it, it will be the ultimate vehicle.

They aren't in dealer showrooms yet, but one of my neighbors has driven a dark blue Rubicon unlimited home for the last week. It has manufacturer's plates on it. Sorry but I've been too busy to stop by and ask to check it out. I'll see if he will let me snap a few pics too.
