My cousin is currently looking to get some new mud tires for his 03 sahara. He currently has 30" Hancook mud tires on his stock 15" rims. He is wondering is a 31" tire will fit, he really doesn't have the extra cash to lift his rig, and wants to still have a decent mud tires. I told him look into Goodyear MTR's like i just got for my KJ, but we are both wondering if the 31" tires will fit on a stock Sahara????? |

I think 30 is about as tall as you can go w/out problems. I have read that the Rubis come w/ a little taller spring allowing the 31's to fit. There are always Rubi owners lifting and selling off the stock parts Cheap. Shop around the other forums for a cheap "lift" by using stock Rubi springs, heck you might even find some here given how many we have here now. |

When my '02 sport was stock, I got BFG AT's, 31x10.5 15 on it. No rubbing, nothing. Looked good. With the stock Canyon rims. The 10.5 is a bit wide for the rim, making the tire look like there is to much air in it, but oh well. That is why stock they are 9.5's. |

Well when i bought my Tj the first mod I did was replace the stock wheels and tires with BFG 31's. I ran those for almost a year with no problems at all. How large are you looking at going? I have 33's at the current time and mine is a DD, so I that is most likly where I'm going to stay. |

The rubi springs are a little stiffer so I think you get something like .5 to .75 of an Inch lift. I don't think it's worth the hastle or cost of the springs (even if there free) to mess with them, If your looking for a cheap lift get a 2" budget lift to get you started. I believe the budget lifts run somewhere around 200.00 |

now now now, stop the bus here. Silver, you did tires and rims. What off- set did you go with? So you got a 33x12.5, no? I kept my stock rims, so had to stay in the 10.5 range. Right now i'm doing 33x10.5 15 with a 4" lift. Yes, a Rubi does sit higher, but you lose it with how low that belly pan sticks down. |

Gotcha! So does the Rubi belly hang lower because of the Rock-Trac transfer case being larger or sitting differently than the 231? I feel like I'm being edumacated here. ![]() |

Well the story on the wheels and tires is this, I knew I was going to 33's so I bought the rims keeping in mind that I wanted a 12.5 wide tires. So the back spaceing is 4.5. |

![]() I might be wrong but I thought they did that for every TJ since 2003 so all wranglers from that point loss a bit of ground clearance. I dont remember where i got it but i read it somewhere. |

if he wheels it then i would not go bigger then a 30" i have 30's on my '02 with 2.5" skyjacker lift and no bumpstop spacers and the tires rub the spring bucket at full stuff mega flex but still some slight rubbing if you leave the swaybar on then no rub and no flex i have been told that the side that is dropping is going so low that it is making the top of the tire that is stuffed pull in and rub that is why i needed bumpstops keep in mind that my tires drop so that the top of the tire goes below the bumper line so this may be true |
