Just a word of advice to anyone with a steering box skid that uses the main bumper attachment bolt and says you should drill another hole in the bumper: DO IT! I installed my skid with just the bolts already on the Jeep. I didn't want to start drilling it up already. So I went wheeling yesterday and on the first trail, I got hung up on the front end. Not thinking anything of it, I figured I just needed to back up and take a new line. Come to find out I had caught a tree stump just behind the steering box. When I backed up, the bolts held the skid on but it got terribly twisted forward and down. (oh yeah, I also broke my tie rod but that's another thread) Now the other hole you're supposed to drill won't even come close to lining up with the bumper. So I can't drill it and bolt it there anymore. I tried pounding it back into shape with a hammer, but so far, not much luck. It looks like I may have to get a new skid. And this time, I will DEFINITELY drill the hole required on the bumper.

I have a Rustys steering box skip if you want it. I can't use it becuase the 2006 have a slightly different bumper design and it won't fit. PM if you want it.

I'm not sure why you think it won't fit. Chris {WV(0)||||||||(0)} has a 2006 Rubi unlimited and he has the Rusty's steering skid. After he saw what I did to my Kilby skid, he said he would probably drill the other hole in the bumper. The thing about the Rusty's skid is the hole in the skid that matches the hole you would drill is a slot, not just a hole so if I had been using that one, it probably still would have peeled back (slid off the bolt through the slot).

Like Chefdab said I have a 2006 and the rustys gearbox skid and it bolted up just fine. If yours does not fit I would call rusty and find out why.
